So I dug into the rules and I guess that play WAS legal, because they had 7 guys on the line of scrimmage at some location, and it appears at least 5 of them were offensive linemen with jersey numbers within the designated ranges. However, all of the OL were lined up out wide so you'd think they were all acting as receivers, but I don't think any of them declared as eligible... and Zeke was ineligible because he was the center... so the only eligible players were the two slot receivers, and the defense obviously just targeted those two guys because they're literally the only guys who could catch the ball and they knew the ball was coming out fast because Dak was being protected by 1 single dude and it was his friggin running back who was definitely just going to get trucked.

The play was legal, I think, but I have absolutely no idea what it was designed to do. I don't think the players knew either, because the left side ran up the field right away, but the right side literally all stood there and didn't move when the ball was snapped in utter confusion.

Interesting, I was ready for them to somehow pull that off and then be called for illegal formation.

I think the idea was to get that completion into the middle, and lateral to someone else with a convoy of linemen in front of him.

I watched those games back then, and was on the social media of the day, and Brady was not an instant GOAT. More often than not he was referred to as a game manager, a dink and dunk guy. I think early Brady and Purdy have some things in common: quick decision making, confidence in their ability to see the field, and room to grow.

The original statement was that Purdy was not impressive. Everyone has their opinion, and in my opinion a guy who was drafted last in the draft, didn't have a 'red shirt' year like Brady, got thrown into a game when the starter was injured so had no real prep, won that game, now has won seven straight with two in the playoffs, is an impressive player.

I'm pretty confident Purdy will be SF's starter next season, barring unexpected injuries.
We'd be lying if we thought he was an instant GOAT during his 1st year. He didn't light the world on fire, but he managed games and made timely throws. The analysts were repeatedly saying how well he was "processing information" and reading defenses post snap taking what they gave him. I was a Bledsoe guy and thought Brady was just a feel good story until they had won the Super Bowl. After that, I knew they had to trade Bledsoe no matter what.

Well, Jerry was after consistency, right?

So, what do you see in Purdy? At least one report out of SF said that the decision is already made and he will be SF's starter next season too.

He's got the decision-making gene for sure.

I like what I've seen given he is a rookie and the last player picked in the draft. It feels eerily like Brady/Pats in 2001. He's not lighting the world on fire, but makes timely throws and doesn't look phased by the moment. Now they are going up against a team most will think will kick the crap out of them like people thought Pittsburgh would to NE.

He has definitely taken Lance's job. The front office will have to decide if they will consider trading him.

Bengals/49ers or Bengals/Eagles Super Bowl should be good. Chiefs/Eagles or Chiefs/49ers would result in another blowout like the Bucs gave KC if Mahomes is still (likely) hobbled by then. I'd love to see Burrow win one.

He earned the job. Watch the 49ers beat Philly too.

He did with Chad Henne and a 50% Mahomeboy
Random note but I have a feeling KC Chiefs, Bengals and the 49ers will be on the top of the nfl for the next five years. KC seems extremely stable. So does the 49ers and the Bengals are also really good. I think Buffalo begins fading next season. Probably a winning record but I think their window is going to shut soon.
