Who knows what information Bill got from spying on his teams from 2000 to 2007 and how much that helped the Pats.

A. I would expect something like this in The Gang Green. For the one billionth time…taping other teams signals was not against the rules then. BB was pissed about the memo from the league placing limits on where the filming could occur, so he kept doing in and then tried to get cute and state that the tapes weren’t being using “during the playing of the game” and he got burned. The owners who hated Belichick saw their opening and came up with a draconian punishment, even though it really should have just been called “Camerainthwrongplacegate.”

The league quoted the first guideline against the Patriots, “All video shooting locations must be enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead.” The rules never prohibit filming coaches. The sections used against the Patriots only concern camera locations.

Anderson’s memo adds an emphasis on signals, which isn’t in the rules. Also, Anderson says that videotaping is prohibited from “any other locations accessible to club staff members.”

This isn’t in the rules either.

The rule mentions only three spots where teams can’t use video equipment during games—the coaches’ booth, the locker room, and the field. No rule bars teams from recording signals as long as they locate their cameras properly.

Despite this, Goodell and especially the media continue to portray signal taping as the problem when the only real issue is camera location.

B. For the love of God, stop posting in this nightmare of a thread, so that it will go away.

She has a FAT turd cutter on her. Have you seen the commercial where she’s on the golf course and it zooms out? THICC.

"Turd cutter" is an all time great euphemism for a rear end. My uncle added that to my vocabulary at a very young age.

I had great role models.

As long as he wasn’t saying it from behind you as you were fresh out of the shower and bending over to pick up your towel, you did, indeed, have a great role model.

Nah. He wasn't in Hollywood, Congress, or the White House so he didn't prefer kids.

He was a great role model indeed.

Not sure I agree with this. The videotaping that was allowed was for teams' video departments - meaning teams could videotape to put highlights, etc. on their website for the fans. Taping wasn't allowed for football operations.

NFL Constitution and Bylaws:

"Any use by any club at any time, from the start to the finish of any game in which such club is a participant, of any communications or information-gathering equipment, other than Polaroid-type cameras or field telephones, shall be prohibited, including without limitation videotape machines, telephone tapping, or bugging devices, or any other form of electronic devices that might aid a team during the playing of a game."

The rules absolutely allowed for videography for coaching purposes, not just for highlights for fans. LOL.

NFL rules state that "no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game" and that all video shooting locations for club coaching purposes "must be enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead."

Video recording devices were absolutely allowed for future gameplanning and coaching purposes, just not “in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game”.

This is from the NFL Operations Manual back then...videotaping was only allowed for team's "video departments." It says nothing about "club coaching purposes." Reading the rules again it seems like videotaping was allowed but not during the game. So team's can video tape pre-game and post-game activities but that's it.

A. No video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game.

B. If clubs believe that violations of any of the Origination, Editing, Exchange, or Shipping rules have occurred, such violations should be brought to the attention of the Vice President of Officiating. Also, please inform the Video Directors Committee of any known violations. The Competition Committee will also urge that the Commissioner take appropriate disciplinary action in cases of substantiated violations.

C. Teams will be required to supply a yearly allotment of tapes to the Dub Center at NFL Films. Quantity required per club will be given to each team by May prior to the upcoming season. Tape stock will consist of brand-new 62-minute Beta SX tapes. For the 2007 season, 4,400 NEW tapes will be required.

D. To ensure the protection of equipment and employees of the team's video departments, please follow the guidelines listed for the video shooting locations at your stadium:

-All video shooting locations must be enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead.

-Any doors entering the shooting locations within the public seating areas of the stadium are required to be lockable from both the inside and the outside of the location to prevent unwarranted access.

-All locations must have climate control (heat and/or fans). Any heaters and/or fans must be completely operational and produce the effect that is required. Heaters that do not produce any heat should be replaced.

-All locations must supply adequate power for each team (at least two outlets per team).

-All locations must be installed with the required video printer lines from both the sideline and the end zone shooting locations to the coaches' booth and field. It is not required that wiring be installed for the opposite end zone position, but if the opposite end zone is wired for the home team, it must also be wired for the visiting team. Home teams must provide visiting teams with the same situational set up for printers that they have themselves (i.e. cover, placement behind the bench, etc.)

-It is suggested that each location provide either countertop space or tables for both teams in the booth and a table on the field and coaches' booth.

Please ascertain that your club is in compliance with these guidelines.

“for club coaching purposes” is a direct quote from the link that you provided to all of us. LOL.

You clearly don’t understand the rules that you are quoting in bold print. The portion of of rule that states Any use by any club at any time, from the start to the finish of any game in which such club is a participant” does not mean that videotaping was not allowed. It’s simply means that the content of the videotapes was not allowed to be used for strategic purposes during that game. Only still photos were permitted for use during that game. Any videotaped content could only be used for future gameplanning purposes. The memo was an addendum to the original rule, which narrowed the rule even further, by stating that there were only very specific designated places where videotaping for coaching purposes could be filmed. That is the portion of the role that Belichick/the Patriots violated.

The rule is that no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game," the league said in a statement from spokesman Greg Aiello. "Clubs have specifically been reminded in the past that the videotaping of an opponent's offensive or defensive signals on the sidelines is prohibited.

Aiello doesn’t state that video taping of signals was prohibited, only the location from which the Patriots taped the signals was prohibited. Your ongoing contention that teams could only film content for highlights for the team website is laughably wrong. Stop embarrassing yourself.

I should’ve learned from others’ mistakes, by engaging you in any discussions, because it is clear that you will just keep doubling down on your incorrect takes.

Bro, Reiss was wrong. He misquoted the rule.

No, the rules state you cannot use the videotape in aiding the "playing of a game" (present or future). It doesn't say "during that [same] game."

Well, the Ray Anderson memo (which you quoted above) was meant for New England because teams were complaining about them videotaping at the time. So the league and other teams clearly had a different interpretation of the rules than you do. Bill should have stopped once that memo came out.
