2022 Free Agent Receivers - Will the Patriots Target One?

Berrios should be our focus in FA WR. Spotrac projects his market to be around 4yr/$23M. If that's the case, then it's a done deal.
Berrios would give us what we've needed. And with Meyers, and Bourne & Agholor & Mac in their 2nd year, this is a very winnable WR corp. Then, whatever they draft - whether a Bolden (Ala) or Robinson (Ky) - they have time to train him up by the time Agholor leaves after next year. No rookie WR will ever work in Foxboro, so plan ahead. Get Berrios who began here, and is exactly what we need to fill the JE11 role.
When the GOAT was here that is obvious but Mac is not the GOAT so I think we can change that narrative now.
Agree. Considering our cap space and the fact that HT is retiring and van Noy not being back, felt we needed somebody who understood the schemes. So Bentley is a cheaper option, though not the best one . I am hoping if we get mcgrone and uche to play to their strengths then Bentley could be a huge upgrade considering sum of parts . If we get an additional draft pick from JC we can potentially use that on LB like Harris. We need 5 picks within 100 and that can be achieved only by trading down. We really need the second rounder from JC trade else we need to tag JC .

Priority 1 - CB
2 - nose tackle
3 - mid round wide receivers
4 - line backers / OT.

Our draft picks prior to 2021 are haunting us now and the cap space provided to agholor and Jonnu leaves no room to grow further . So considering that I think we cannot do WR high in draft or in free agency. Since this class is deep we should take a shot at skyy Moore and Austin.
I feel like we should be able to buck the trend on Drafting bust Receivers Brady is not here anymore and we know he hated Rookie receivers. It's Macs Team now he should be able to gel with a guy or two. The Patriots need to draft football players and not Highlight reel College Players like Harry and Joke-Quan . Our Draft philosophy needs tweaking when comes on to Drafting WR and CB early. We really need to hit in this Draft and have decent success in FA. We gotta get closer to the KC's and Buffalo's even Cinci now.

I do agree it was mostly Brady, then JMD who didn't know how to bring along young WR's without destroying them if they didn't get it immediately. But, the drafting can't be excused either. BB drafted Harry above Samuel, Brown, Metcalf, Mclaurin, Renfroe... the list is insane. It shows there's a systemic issue with drafting WR's, maybe a curse I don't know.

That's why we double dip on WR in middle rounds. This draft is actually pretty strong all the way for top 15 wide receivers and with league being more offense friendly we should be able to get good players in 2nd or 3rd round . We have so many needs that we can't afford to use first round on wide receiver . I hope they use similar philosophy like what they used last time , drafting best available player . If we can get say lions 32 or 34 for JC Jackson we have so much room to play with . We can draft a stud CB and WR with those picks .

Agree completely McDaniels and Las Vegas could be a possible landing spot for Jackson in Tag and Trade he's familiar with him and they have to play Hebert and Mahomes twice a very good CB is imperative.

Don't remind me IF they screw it up this year then we know though it pains me the say it the game has finally passed BB by. They are under the gun this foolishness must stop!

If they have spent so much draft capital on LB and still can't find one among 4 it gives me less confidence what they can do this year . I would much rather allow them to roll in with these folks get them gain experience and maybe 1 or 2 of them shine . Bring back Bentley and maybe a veteran LB at discount ( 28-29 years ).

I believe we need a slot receiver . So don't mind double dipping wide receiver in late 2nd round and early 3rd round . We have spent 3rd round picks on asiasi,Keene and a bunch of linebackers. Let them spend it on WR this time. Who knows we might find our deebo Samuels .

Agholor and Meyers might be gone next season , so better to develop the next set of wide receivers who can take over next year . This year is going to be a reset year and I think we should just use it for evaluating and forming the core team around Mac . OL for now seems to be fine and is a relative strength compared to defense .

Maybe the problem is you don't understand what they've spent draft capital on. You're equating guys like Winovich and Uche to "LBers" when they are EDGE players. As is Ronnie Perkins. You mentioning Asiasi and Keene is nothing but a red herring and has nothing to do with the conversation.

The Patriots HAVE a slot receiver in Meyers, currently. Bourne can also play the slot.

Your attempting to build the offense based on the Patriots running the 21 base Offense and not a 12 base offense. Yet, the money they spent last year AND the draft picks the year before screams they want to run the 12.

So, according to you, this is another "RESET" year? Like they had in 2020 with Newton?

While the O-line is a strength compared to the defense, bringing back Karras and Brown isn't going to help the way you are suggesting.

The Patriots need help on the DL at both IDL and Edge. They also need a Corner who can play inside or outside. So they have a back-up to Jonathan Jones OR as a starter opposite Jackson. Help at LB is a huge need. Hightower and Collins aren't going to be back. I think the Pats saw enough of Tavai to know he's not going to be helpful except maybe as a depth replacement. They only have 3 guys plus Langi, who is more of a special teamer.

They have nkeal harry, possibly the worst wr to ever suit up at any level. Why sign another? Would he be as much of an overpaid bust as jonnu Smith? How does bb get exec of the year when his biggest signing is an utter bust?

we have a thread on every bum in the NFL whos available....but nothing on Cole Beasley....at least on the front page....is this bc he's not jabbed? Beasley is everything Mac Jones needs.... is the boo hoo Corona crew not willing to have a guy like Beasley?

Or he's a 33 year old slot receiver coming off his worst season in terms of yards/rec and yards/target since his rookie year. Jakobi Meyers had a better year than he did, and he didn't have Steph Diggs drawing coverage for him.

Excellent point! No more retreads looking for a last payday!

Thoughts on the report the pats want to trade for Robbie anderson and move on from Agholor?

Dooooo eeet! Do they have someone to unload Agholors contract onto? Anderson had the worst year of his career, but could anyone blame him? Seems like he would be a great fit here and his contract is very reasonable.

He sucks. He had one if not the worst passer rating in the league when targeted. Agholor is straight up better and we are wasting are time. Don't know why this team is looking at junk like Anderson and Isabella. Pass catchers have been an issue the last 3 seasons and we only got worse. Idk if they got gun shy over Harry or what, but this isn't an answer.

This makes almost no sense. He's not even worth a seventh. We don't need depth or more bodies. We need quality.

Don't see anyone taking on Agholor's contract in a trade. If we cut Agholor we take on $10m in dead money and Anderson's cap number in a trade is about $9m. I just don't see how this makes any sense.

He'd fit right in w/ post Brady Pats.

Matt Judon was an utter bust? Nah.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Pats traded for Calvin Ridley though. Ridley looks like he could be a high low risk, high low reward option that Belichick loves hates.
FIFY

3 of the top 4 WRs got tagged. If we're going after one of these guys we should go big. I can't see what another 3rd/4th posession receiver is going to do for this offense. Robinson is a true WR#1 and didn't have a good year, so could probably be had for $15M apy. Trade Agholor. Otherwise just get one via draft.
