2022 Free Agent Receivers - Will the Patriots Target One?

Thanks buddy! Did you get those nude pictures I DMed that you. I didn't want to send them, but I don't think you would leave me alone with all those DMs begging me for them. I assume since you haven't been around for a few days that you got them. I am surprised that your right hand wasn't too cramped to type though. I must be losing my animal magnetism in my old age.

I don't see the Patriots making many upgrades offensively. I'm thinking the focus will be on the defense and getting younger and faster at linebacker. Wide receiver is a spot of need but they're locked into a bad situation with Agholor and Jonnu Smith

I just hope that if they do make a move it's for a true #1 WR (i.e. Robinson) instead of going after a cheap #3 WR.

Thats really what they need. They have more than enough depth Wide Receivers.

3 of the top 4 WRs got tagged. If we're going after one of these guys we should go big. I can't see what another 3rd/4th posession receiver is going to do for this offense. Robinson is a true WR#1 and didn't have a good year, so could probably be had for $15M apy. Trade Agholor. Otherwise just get one via draft.

How is Adams franchise tag higher than Godwin's?

This is Godwin's SECOND year franchise tag - shouldn't it be through the roof?

I still think they bring in a reliable vet option so they'll have someone other than Bourne signed past 2022 - Conley, Humphries...low level, but at least knows the game.

Maybe they try to get OBJ, though he won't be ready before mid-season.

Sure, but is Robbie Anderson a true WR#1? Why are they looking at that dude?
I liked Robbie Anderson in FA many moons ago don't like him in this one.

No recovering from ACL players please... Sometimes after that injury they are not the same players. We just need a outside Receiver that's better than Bourne on the other side and a true Slot Receiver.

Adams' 2021 cap hit in the final year of his contract was higher than the 2021 franchise tag for WRs. The second tag is at least a 20% increase over the first tag (Godwin), but the first tag is also a 20% increase over the prior year's cap hit (Adams).

I wouldn't mind the Pats picking up Robby Anderson as long as they get at least another solid starting WR. If they are not going for a true #1, they need threel solid #2 WRs. I think Bourne can be a solid #2/#3 if he plays in the slot. Anderson, Bourne, another #2 WR, and Meyers could be a good receiving corp along with Henry and a receiving back (James White or someone else). If Smith could get his head out of his butt and do 75% of what the Pats were hoping he can do, then it could be a very good receiving corp.

BTW, it is Robby Anderson, not Robbie Anderson.

No. Because it depends on what their salary cap number was the previous year. Franchise tag for each of the 1st two years is Average of the Top 5 OR a 20% increase. Whichever is larger.

Godwin's 2021 Salary Cap number was 15.93M
Adams Salary Cap number was 16.787M.

BOTH are just a 20% increase. So Godwin goes to 19.18M and Adams goes to 20.145M.

Why do people keep pushing Conley? Guy has averaged just 28.1 yards per game and never had 50 receptions in his career. Humprhies is ANOTHER guy that hasn't topped 50 receptions in a season. EVER.

I fell in love with Conley during the combine, but I also fell in love with Chad Jackson as well so.

Not pushing Conley or Humphries (well, kind of pushing Humphries) or anyone else...just a vet on a cheap deal for a couple of years to ensure SOME continuity for Mac.

I mean, I'd love the Pats to go get someone better, but I doubt they'll spend the money. Again, as we've gone around before, I hate the thought of having Bourne as the only proven WR on the team signed after this year.

Why would OBJ leave LA? Stafford is better than Mac and the Rams are better. I know he loves BB but not the right time.

He probably won't, but there, he's a #2WR. Cupp is #1.

So, your answer is to add a cheap crappy veteran who performs like a 4th/5th WR for "continuity"? If I want continuity, work out a 2-3 year deal with Meyers. Not rely on a vet signing of a below-jag level receiver.
We know that the Patriots want to move on from Agholor. Sending him to the Raiders is the best bet. What you don't want to do is build up the roster behind him, taking away what trade value he has.

Whatever WR they sign needs to be someone who is CUT from their team. Not just finished out their contract. I say this because we don't want that WR to count in the Comp Pick formula.

If the Pats move on from Agholor, Harry and Oslewski, then I can see them adding 2 WR. Otherwise, they'll add a rookie and see what happens.

Does bb really have a better track record with signing/trading for veteran wide receivers than drafting or signing UDFA wide receivers?

Surprised they didn't trade for ridley. That would have been funny.

How do the pats have any money for a fa wr with the contracts they gave jags like jonnu smith, algohor and godcheaux? 3 jags paid a king's ransom. By the "exec of thd year". Sucker of the year more like.

You think a wr would change anything on this team? There are fire hydrants who can cover better than our linebackers. Cinder blocks. Heck of a job there belichick, earning that 25 million every day.
