for some rain on the parade :)

Thanks. This guy’s tweet was already the subject of an entire thread and nobody but the OP cared in that thread and now nobody cares in this thread either. Well done.

Any idea what we have left in cap space?

Wise has generally graded out really well as a pass rusher, but they’ve had to rely on him against the run more than desired due to injuries. Probably not a coincidence that they’re also adding better run-stuffing depth today, to allow Wise to play to his strengths.

Judon, Van Noy, Winovich & Uche would be nasty at edge
Add Hightower and Jennings and 4 of the 6 are on the field in any combination to confuse an offense and wreak havoc

That seems a little rich for a guy who is nothing special.

He is good and when the real numbers come out they will reflect exactly that. Only 10M guaranteed means basically 2y/10-12M . hints heavy incentives, pay as you go.. This could turn out to be a very good deal if he stays healthy..

Stopped reading after that first grade.

He really should be playing the run from the DE spot and rushing the passer from the DT spot. Big for a DE quick for a DT.
The most overlooked aspect of the last 5-6 years of scaping against the cap, of not being able to afford to retain the roster or afford the ideal replacement is that we have had a lot of players not playing in their fully best role due to necessity. The DL has been probably the most affected.
That’s what’s most exciting about this off season. We can build the roster much more prototypically.

Pats still interested in bringing butler back

No doubt heavily backloaded.
However it’s actually encouraging from the standpoint that adding 2 solid DTs and a star caliber DE/OLB and spending that much on Wise means they envision a role for him that he will be best suited to. I don’t think they’ve been able to use him in best role out of necessity.
