    I’m really interested in who is riding andvwho is falling. There seems to be a lot of volatility in this draft, e.g..Dexter Lawrence in the mid 2nd in a CBS mock today, and it could give a better sense of who may actually be at #32, and the approach they should take.

    Dexter Lawrence is too good to fall that far in my opinion.

    Just my opinion based upon some mock draft simulations but almost all of the WRs, DTs and OL that I think are likely Pats picks in that first round range don’t last until 56. It seems like too far back to grab a faller. Trading up from 56 might be the way to go.

    I definitely agree but I don’t follow the draft anywhere near as closely as I once did, and this imo is one of the best draft forums you will find, as there are a number of you who know their stuff as well as anyone out there, yourself included. Over the next couple of weeks I’m going to try to get a much clearer idea of who will definitely be gone, who might fall within reach, and who should likely be available at #32.

    All the tedious work you guys do to inform this site is greatly appreciated. I think I’m going to make a post in the general forum asking that it be allowed to be used as a pre draft forum going into the lead up to the draft. Better it be used as the primary forum for draft discussion up to the draft than its current primary use as the Argue with Andy forum.

    Thanks and I agree. There are some great people here and occasional visitors are always welcome and well informed. And the tone is great here - even when we disagree it's done respectfully.

    I think BB has a higher ranking of the fatties than most teams. Many defenses just attack the qb. Makes them vulnerable to the run game and short passes. They want DL who can get upfield. We want them to play their position, then squeeze the pocket.

    @reamer

    Have you watched Joejuan Williams against Ole Miss? Really fun competitive stuff. AJ Brown and Lodge get a handful of catches against him but they're all excellent catches and had to be. And then Williams not only gets an end zone interception but also the game saving pass breakup. As enjoyable a tape as I've seen because it's Mano a Mano stuff.

    A radio mock had us trading up to 21 for Lawrence.

    If that's what it took I'd be on board. He and Pennel would be impossible to run on inside.

    Not sure how I feel about that. Love the player, not sure about the trade up. I’d make my piece with it.

    Just for fun, I tried a "blind" mock via walkthemock.com. I simply took the top ranked available player every single time, regardless of position. Fastest mock I've ever done since there wasn't any thinking involved, hah. Surprisingly, I would not hate this result -- it's better than half the attempts I've seen in the media. ;)

    Fanspeak Difficult 7 rounder. Murphy was too good to pass up and I figured we could put Dawson at S.

    Even without Murphy, they may have to do that: Gilmore, Jackson, J-Mac, Jones, Crossen.

    The two boldfaced picks are the only "Ummm . . ." picks here. Everyone else at least makes some sense. [My problem with Jackson is the player, with Higdon the drafting-two-RBs part.]

    I learned you can never have too many quality corners and should regularly taking shots at landing an elite one.

    I had similar feelings about it -- an entertaining exercise that worked out fairly well and illustrates the depth of this draft, but probably not an optimized haul.

    I tried again this morning with the fanspeak simulator and the most recent composite board. I "cheated" by limiting myself to 2 at each position (otherwise we would have had 5 more RBs after Montgomery and Sanders, no joke). Again, it's not a perfect result, but I'd be pretty happy with the first three picks as well as a few of the others (Wesco with the final pick is a huge steal).

    I'll probably refrain from trying again, but it does show the deficiency of a BPA approach, as well as convince me that trading down is probably smart and trading into next year should be priority.
