Depends upon how you define success and how the other receivers shake out.
If decker is wr4 and can be WR3 while Edelman out, that’s a level of success that make results in 25 catches all season.
I don't think Decker will do a damn thing.

Quite an interesting WR debate. I have concerns like everyone else but I also wonder why everyone sleeps on Hogan? He's been groomed the last few years and is ready for a bigger role.

I see 3 realistic things that will save this WR group. Brady's sheer will can make any group look ok, Edelmans health and return to form, and Hogan taking the next step in our offense. You add this to Gronk and the RBs and this offense will be as lethal as always.

This is so much more important than any Dez or anything we can get off the scrap heap.

Hogan will probably start slowly as he'll suddenly start seeing a lot of the defense's best corner on top of dealing with safety help on some of the deeper routes. He'll be the one that probably benefits the most from Edelman coming back.

Hogan’s great but sometimes he has a hard time getting separation in man coverage against those elite guys.

He caught 50+ passes a year ago from a weak qb. He has produced big time in this league. Now he is running routes for the goat in an offense he is familiar with.
Why the negativity?

Most WRs do. That's why those corners are elite.

True but that game last year against the jags was the perfect example. I think this offense will do a lot better if guys like dorsett or britt became players. We need to hope edelman is the edelman of a couple of years ago.

Dorsett has been a bust and this will have to be his prove it year. I'm not expecting it, though. I actually have higher hopes for Patterson than I do Dorsett. Britt has been a walking injury throughout his entire career. Edelman will be fine, but he won't be there in the first four weeks.

Two weeks ago I was bullish on the WR corp being a functional unit and able to contribute the first 4 games. Now...

Patterson- cant seperate
Britt- cant get on the field. cant separate
Dorsett- unproven, cant separate
Decker- cant seperate
Hogan- Only proven one active weeks 1-4
Rookies- unknown

I can see why you feel that way about dorsett. It’s very thin the wr position with some guys that haven’t done much with Brady. Well at this point nobody’s walking through that door. Gonna have to roll with what they got.

I'm just down on him and the other receivers. They are mediocre.

Very likely. And not to put it all on you but I'm getting really sick of looking at the WR depth through the lens of a 4 game suspension. Jules will be a huge part of this WR group despite his suspension.

Gronk, Jules, and Hogan are weapons as good as most any in the league. Let's relax a little.

I think it’s going to be an effective group. Lots of experience, varied skill set. Edelman and Hogan will get wr1/wr2 snaps and the rest will be mix and match to opponent, scheme and game plan.
Let’s play some games before we write them off.

I think Hogan is what he is, his role was already bigger last year until that shoulder injury. He is a great complementary piece and reliable target, when the other team is focusing on Gronk or whomever is threatening to stretch the field, like Cooks last year.

Yeah but one of them is a TE, two of them have pretty extensive injury histories, and one missed a good chunk of time last season. The team will need them to remain healthy because everything else behind them in the WR corps is meh at best.

I'm writing them off. Any 1/2 decent CB can shut them down.

I am bullish on Hollister, though. Ultimately I think he can be a 60-80 catch player here.
