2018 Draft Prospect Thread

Here’s a half crazy idea based on the fact that Slater hasn’t re-signed. Doesn’t Justin Reid seem like a Slater kind of guy? We’re OK at safety aside from Jordan Richards. Reid comes in to take Richards’ place, becomes the Slater replacement on special teams with a view to being McCourty’s long term replacement. And of course, he backs up both McCourty and Harmon too. And, if we aren’t able to draft Reid, we just re-sign Slater after the draft.

Just a thought that came to me because I was a little surprised Slater hasn’t been re-signed yet.

Note - I’m not suggesting drafting Reid is a crazy idea, we know that isn’t the case, just the fact that he could be targeted as a potential Slater replacement. Intelligence, leadership etc.

Do you want a 33year old veteran who contributes on special teams only and takes 1mil or more per year or you want some kid who actually has a chance to grow and play not only on ST but in case of any starter injury.

The latter in normal circumstances but I think most of us have an affection for Slater and what he’s given this team.

This is a good breakdown of Joe Ostman. There’s a lot to like in terms of effort, ability to stand his ground and set the edge and football intelligence. Doesn’t have the athleticism to be a top pass rusher but has abilities in that department too.

If we’re going to draft a WR, Penn State’s Daesean Hamilton might be the guy. Matt Harmon calls his separation skills “elite” (Harmon is the guy who studies WRs with Reception Percepton guide & loved Malcolm Mitchell). And, from his scouting report:

Scouts say he's described as "special" and "unselfish" by everyone around him. High-achiever. Team captain who takes time to teach younger players.

Chad O’Sea met with him.

Day 3? Don't mind it after needs are adressed

WR currently has Edelman, Cooks, Hogan, Mitchell, Patterson, Dorsett, and Britt

I like Hamilton too, but I also wouldn't be surprised if he goes somewhere during the 3rd round. Even if he lasts into the 4th round, I'd rather use that pick on a TE like Dalton Shultz, provided of course that our more important needs - LB, LT, DE, DB - have been addressed with our first 4 picks.

Hamilton had an impressive career. And is a great guy off the field,

Speaking of penn state, just watched film on the linebacker Cabinda and he is Rashaad Evans jr just in happy valley.

Hello All, Sorry for not being posting recently, been sorting personal crap out.

With the Trade that has just happened we could be looking at Davenport/Landry. Personally i prefer Landry, feel he can be a better player for us.

Then we look at LB at 31 for me, i've seen some reports that LVE could be a late 1st or early second. Personally i'm still not 100% sold on him as of yet.

I'd rather look at Josh Jackson at 31, for some reason he is falling massively on some Draft Boards i've seen. I have D Ward as my number 1 corner this year.

I'd personally look at LB in a Malik Jefferson role, who wasn't used properly in college i feel. LB is deep this year, so there is going to be a gem there in the later rounds possibly

QB - Lamar Jackson.. Love him or hate him. He will be a very good QB IF he is in the right system.

RB - Deep again this Draft there's a drop off from Barkley, but other than that everyone has their pros and cons. Personally i think this could be a pick in the 6th Round.

TE/HB/Flex - Jaylen Samuels - I've been trying to find a comparison for this guy and i have no idea.... He's a jack of all trades but a master of none.

I've been trying to find the Next Arron H without the issues.. but damm he was a special talent!

TE - This will depend on Gronk Personally i like Mike Gesicki as the Move TE. His blocking is Subpar but feel with Dante it can improve, is also very very athletic.

WR - Braxton Berrios - is a Pats WR. He's Dola 2.0.

DJ Chark - Big, Top end speed. Would look into, reminds me of patterson but quicker.. let that just sink in.

OT - I'd like us to wait a year and look at the 19' Draft for our next Solder, as there is no real tackle that's saying to me yeah he can start early.

But i am a Big Fan of Tyrell Crosby from Oregon - He can run block and is athletic. I have a 3rd-5th round Grade on him depending how the draft goes.

DE - Bradley Chubb - I have a better grade on him than Garrett, this guy won a game for NC State against FSU. Would love him here, shame it'll never happen!

After Chubb there's a big drop off - As previously said Landry/Davenport could be fits here..

Landry - Crazy first step speed, almost like von miller speed, needs to develop some more pass rush moves but would be a nice pick at 23.

Davenport - RAW. EXPLOSIVE. FREAK. Not sure what else to say about him, could change the game at DE with his size, or could be a huge bust.

DT/DE - Hercules Mata'afa - A bit like Jaylen Samuels - Undersized but damm he's could become Scarily good. Beats O-line from his sheer first step and nasty nasty hands. I'd only line him up in the middle on 3rd down or passing situations and just tell him to get the QB. i have a 4th - 6th grade on him

Safety - Justin Reid. All day, all night long. Get him in the sub packages, get him learning ready to take over from Chung/D-Mac

Grade - 2nd - 3rd.

CB - Alexander, Jackson are my next ones after Denzel Ward, i will be shocked if Ward falls past 15, guy is a Pro Bowl caliber slot corner straight away.

Alexander injuries will make him fall. Could be there for our 2a pick, if so great value.

Late first/ Early Second

Jackson - His combine has made him drop 10-15 spots in the draft with his forty time, as well as this like LVE has only really one year of production.

Will go higher than should due to the interceptions so will give him first round grade.

One thing i will point out is i have left out Lorenzo Carter, because he's not a first rounder. I have him as a 2nd round grade on him. Athletically he's a freak, good on ST but for someone who possess the physcial skill set he has, he should of been up there with Chubb..

His game tape doesn't lie, and i know he will go in the first, but he's a second rounder all day long for me. Just something about his game worries me, and i can't quite put my finger on it.

Can I get officially excited about Anthony Miller now? Watching his highlights, I thought he was a dead ringer for Cooks albeit without the electric speed.

Really like Miller, and he ran a 4.48 at his pro day (Pauline reporting 4.5s?) despite coming off a foot injury and not being able to really train / prepare for the 40. His speed is just fine. Look at Antonio Brown for a prime example of speed in pads > speed in shorts.

So many possibilities now. While I'm sure the actual results won't be as exciting, I'm now dreaming of one of the top guys falling into our range. Ahhhhhh, hope springs eternal.

RD1. 23 Rashaan Evans LB, Alabama

RD1. 32 Kolten Miller LT, UCLA

RD. 43 Mike Hughes CB, Central Florida

RD. 63 DE/OLB Lorenzo Carter, Georgia

RD.95 Kyle Lauletta, QB, Richmond

The possibility of landing all of these players is actually very high, just think about that and let it sink it. If we came away with this draft, I would not be able to describe my happiness and excitement for next season.

Are you that high on Hughes (i.e. eventual Gilmore replacement) ?

I mean there are 1-2 Corners I like a little more, but I really do like him. He reminds me of Chris Harris Jr.

I like his back peddle, and his ability to flip his hips. He's always trying to make a play in the run game, although he does need some refinement there. Can basically play all types of coverage. Is scrappy. I remember this play watching him against auburn, where the WR he was covering (not to mention a much bigger WR) where the wr kind of cheap shotted him on a run play, and the very next play, Hughes just buried him right at the line of scrimmage once he noticed they were running the ball. Oh and I like what I see out of him when he blitzes from the slot. Which is where I think hell play, but not at all limited to. Lets not forget his return skills. I just think he offeres a lot of value if we can get him there.

To answer your question about Gilmore. No. We have him locked up for a lot longer, and I think Gilmore he will only get better in the system, and once Bill best hones in how to use him.
