2017 Patriots Draft Contacts Thread

At the very least, Seaton (far left) makes Kpassagnon (far right) look small:

12570719.jpeg

He's 290lbs and shredded. How is that humanly possible?

Get him up to 315 and he could be a terror inside

Speaking of Seaton, I went back to watch a bit, and he gets after it in the run game. Better athlete than I initially thought. I'm curious about pro day numbers, but wow does he like to throw people around. Kpassagnon has all the hype, but I wouldn't be surprised if Seaton has a solid career, too.

Highlights, so take them with a gain of salt, but fun to watch:

@I.M. Fletcher I'll get the smelling salts ready. ;)

TOOHEY: Villanova’s Kpassagnon puts in the work to impress NFL coaches

Kpassagnon has also held private workouts for the Saints, Falcons, Lions and Titans, and will do another private workout for the Super Bowl champion New England Patriots Friday. The Lions and Titans put him through four hours of film work Sunday.

I'd love to know how the Pats would use Kpassagnon. I think they'd need to bulk him up and use him as a 4i or 5-tech.

Adeboyejo is quietly a really good athlete. 6'3 with 4.4 speed and a 6.7 3-cone time. He's a little on the slender side, but he plays with good physicality and runs some nice routes. Quickness shows up on the field. Good late round gamble.

This is where I stall out, too. He's at his best one-gapping. Not sure quite what to do with him, although I think he's phenomenally gifted.

Add Villanova LB Austin Calitro to the mix. 6-0, 245lb.

Should point out that that's DL coach Brendan Daly in the pic so it seems likely that Kpassagnon is the main target of the visit.

Thanks for maintaining this list!

Two quick exercises for fun before I head off to church this morning. I'll check back on the progress this afternoon:

1) Pick a player from each position, regardless of draft stock/round to fill out our roster, from only this pool of players.

2) Create a mock draft (limited to available picks/trades) from only this pool of players.

From the list ...
72. Tanoh Kpassagnon DL
96. Tarrell Basham DE
130. Donta Foreman RB
163. Josh Jones S
183. Brad Seaton OL
200. Brandon Wilson CB
239. TJ Holloman ILB

72. - Tarrell Basham
96. - Julie'n Davenport
130. - Delano Hill
163. - Cam Sutton
183. - Brandon Wilson or Leon McQuay
200. - De'Veon Smith
239. - Drew Morgan

My real mock would have Daeshon Hall, Mack Hollins and George Kittle in it though.

Having said that, I can easily see a narrative in which BB makes Kpassagnon the pick at 72 and the media says "BB does it again". Drafting one of the biggest physical freaks in the draft in Kpassagnon wouldn't surprise me at all. His 7.46 3-cone is a bit of a problem for me though.

A difficult task, given that so many of the contacted prospects are either likely to be out of reach, or likely to be UDFA.

Nevertheless, I soldier onward ...

#72 - Darboh
#96 - Sutton
#130 - Hodges

#163 - Foreman
#183 - Eluemunor

#200 - Reeves-Maybin

#239 - Tupou

The real tragedy here is that, now that I've publicly projected them, it pretty much guarantees that none of them will be drafted by BB.

No EDGE guy is interesting.

Well, I could have gone with Barnett at #72, because he's completely out of reach. But I didn't want to use any of the guys who would be within reach for fear of jinxing someone's binky.

"No jinxy da binky." That's my mock draft motto!

With that philosophy, by the time draft day rolls around, you'd only have the most unlikely picks in your mock.

Yup! All picks would be either Top-15 prospects or guys who are listed on the CBS site at #400+. :)
