regarding Leigh B..... what is his current CONTRACT????

You do realize it should be a "No Cap" year next season???? why will we have trouble regaining him?

yes it maybe a uncaped year

but Leigh Bodden will most likely end the season with 7 or 8 INT's

that will get him 7 or 8 million a year on the open market and even with no cap i cant see the pats paying that much for him if they are going to resign neal mankins wilfork and Gostkowski

good point......

but you do not even see a 1 yr mega deal on the horizon for Bodden??

(Even if he plays superbly down the stretch)

No CAP means we can go nutty for 1 year..... I expect him back w/ a high salary for 1 year if he continues to play well.

Willfork we have by the BALLS (franchise tag)

my biggest concern this offseason is w/ Gostowski.......

IDK..... deal w/ stuff that we control now...... not stuff later

as grim as it might be.

i would love to see the pats resign him if he keep's playing good

i dont know how ture it is but i hear in a uncaped year there would be 2 tags ?

if so they can tag wilfork and mankins and have more time to work with Gostowski

i have to say it would be fun to see what the pats will do in a uncaped year

1 O 1 D????

IDK??? Not familiar with number of Tags...... i really thought u could have 2?

Yes, i believe its been mentioned that there would be 2 tags. I just don't think anyone should get their hopes up that BB is suddenly going to blow a wad of money, just because there is no cap. Only idiots like Dallas, and Washington will do that.

2 horrible challenges left the Patriots with no challenges in case they really needed them. As well, the play calling in the Second half was horrendous.

Yes we won, but against a really bad JETS team, we saw just how vulnerable our Pats are. Even with 5 turnovers, our Offense only scored 23 points.

The play calling specifically in the second half, other than the runs, was painful to watch.

Overall the game was frustrating to watch, other than the win and Edleman, and Welkers performance, you can't say the coaching, or the passion to win was there.

I grade this game a C+ / B-

I agree. Don't know what is going on with Belichick but these challenges are bizarre. Is someone upstairs misinforming him or is he seeing the replay in the stadium and acting on it? Either way it has got to stop.
The 2nd half offensive woes continue. This is a 1st half offense and the differential in the numbers is staggering. They showed those numbers on the broadcast yesterday. The drop off in production is very significant and it's a major reason why this team doesn't put anyone away especially on the road.
This team has a lot of flaws.

The game was not closer than 17 points, I really dont know how you come to that conclusion. We dominated today and have the stats to prove it:
- First Downs: Pats 27 Jets 12
- Total Yards: Pats 410 Jets 226
- Turnovers: Pats 1 Jets 5
- TOP: Pats: 39:54 Jets: 20:06

Pretty dominating to me....

I have an issue with the constant negativity. Before the 07 season were fans always so negative after wins on this site? No, the 07 season has completely changed all fans expectations.

I Think we dominated in the first half... no doubt, which taken together with the second half adds up to a win in fairly dominatating fashion. However compare the stats between the first half and second half and you can see what some of us are worried about.

The game is 60 minutes. Last week we played for 55 minutes. I felt this week we let up again, the team simply wasnt the Colts.

So to me, our play reflect no lessons learned from last week debalces.
That is what concerns me.

You can't stick your head in the sand and pretend the issues that the Pats have showed this year didn't show up once again.

Everyone's gripe regarding our offense in the second half has very good merits.

The Jets are a bad team. You say we got dominated in week 2 by them? That game was played by two teams that do not resemble the teams that you saw today. The Jets have been playing terrible and we are playing way better in comparison to week 2.

I have an even bigger gripe.

This blog is being overrun by morons claiming to be Patriots fans. It's the true picture of "Spawn of the Dumb Girls".

We have some idiot claiming Wilhite in around "every" completion on a day the opponent QB completes EIGHT passes.

How exactly do you Einsteins know that BB is not working on the clock milking offense?

Earth to reality. This is the NFL. The opponents are professionals and will make some plays.

If people read more and posted less they would likely be very familiar with the number of tags in any or an uncapped year (and lots of other concepts like which players would remain RFA like Mankins and Gostkowski in an uncapped year) because that stuff has been discussed here extensively.

There is only EVER one franchise tag regardless of capped or uncapped. Heading into 2010 if it is uncapped there is the opportunity to use a second tag which would be a transition tag. Transition tags however only give the team the right to match any offer the tagged player receives. If he accepts another offer they fail to match they get no compensation for him. And because the team persuing him can put poison pill clauses in their offer that this team could not match, like insane incentives/escalators if he plays in MA, most teams view the transition tag as relatively useless.

Bodden is not interested in signing a one year deal. He wants a long term deal at as close to top tier corner money as he can muster. That's what they all want. He only signed here this season because no one would offer him remotely what he thought he was worth coming off his time in Detroit. Here he had a shot at rebabbing his image and market.

I'm sure they will make him an offer since he seems to be developing into a good fit on and off the field. But like Asante Samuel before him it will not be for top tier or elite corner money. 6 of Asante's 10 picks in 2006 came via Culpepper and Grossman. Not that any pick isn't great, but that's kinda like 3 off Sanchise in mid meltdown.

The Patriots will not abandon their system or business model and sign insane frontloaded deals that amount to overpaying players just because you can in an uncapped season. Rather they will use that season to get their core players extended if they can still do that without overpaying.

They will also continue to improve and attempt to play 60 minutes of perfect football in all three phases of the game, although because they have a grip on reality that some of this fan base totally lacks they will understand that remains a goal all teams strive for and seldom achieve let alone consistently. In the end they will settle for a win and refuse to wallow in a loss in the persuit of their goals which are win the the next game, get to the playoffs, win the division, win in the playoffs, get to the championship games and win them - in that order.

You have to talk to Ian about that. I am limited to expressing my opinion which he is well aware of. He has made some effort to mitigate the spawn effect, but he's an inconsistent presence and his mods seem unwilling to back him up consistently. This thread being a perfect example since it should have been merged out of the gate with the weekly postgame whine to your heart's content thread.

I hate to be the ignorant Homer, but I don't understand any of this. Where can I read about this, what it means to be 'tagged' or 'transition tag'. I frankly know next to nothing compared to you draft gurus.

I see your point, but when will you be satisfied? I feel like that 07 team has completely changed fans expectations. Fans expect perfection and domination every week now. We won by 17 points, forced 5 turnovers and Welker had 15 catches. That sounds like a pretty decent game to me, and we shouldnt really be concerned. If we only won by 7, and the Jets had a chance at the end, maybe there would be a little concern, but we won by 17 points.

I know some will trash you but IMO, you do have a valid concern.

A little retrospect and we see a Patriots team that looks quite
different in the second half.

PATs lost to JETs(first game) and Colts because of it and there were
other close calls.

WHY? Is it because there are so many injuries that players don't get
enough rotations and thus get tired?
Is it because PATs have no offense and defense adjustments that
counter how other teams adjust during half time?

It is scary? Which PATs team will come out in the second half?
If PATs play this way against Saints ... they will lose.

They will also continue to improve and attempt to play 60 minutes of perfect football in all three phases of the game, although because they have a grip on reality that some of this fan base totally lacks they will understand that remains a goal all teams strive for and seldom achieve let alone consistently.

I was with you and considered that a five star post up until that part. It's a fact that our offense has been experiencing it's woes in the second half. It's a fact that our team had one loss coming into the season when leading at half under Bill Belichick this decade. It's also a fact that we've lost three now this season when leading at halftime. That's three more in one year than we had lost since 2001 and it's mostly because the offense has stalled. Yesterday, you can chalk it up to terrible blocking and the fact that Brady was dropping back and was, literally, getting hit on his third step. Like I've said, I have full faith that it will get fixed when Light and Neal return. However, you cannot just sweep these offensive issues under the rug. Is it true that very few teams play a full 60 minutes of perfect football? Sure. But, under Bill Belichick, the Patriots very more often than not have in this decade, and it's been the signature of our championship winning seasons. If this continues, it's a fact that we won't be winning one this season. Do I think it will continue? Nope. I'm not going to be that negative. But it has certainly been more of a cause for conern than you just made it out to be.

I think we're just concerened because 3 times this season letting up in the second half has came back to kill us, not to mention blowing games late in the playoffs recently. When the Jets made it 24-14 I had an "oh ****" feeling, not because I expect perfection from them, but because we've blown 3 games in the second half this year which is something we never do. This needs to be corrected. I'll take a 17 point win over the Jets any day of the week but we need to fix the issue of letting up in the second half.

People are concerned with a pattern, that has developed this season, where the team cannot seem to get going in the second half. And that has cost the team at least two games (jets, broncos), and you can even put the Colts game in there. So I think there is a need for concern, they have not fixed this problem all year.

That's just it. It's a CAUSE FOR CONCERN. Those inferring that this team stinks because of it need to step back. This is a very good football team capable of blowing out any opponent they play against by multiple scores. This is a team that went into an 8-0 team's house and smacked them up and down the field... for a half. This team does not stink by any means. However, the offensive woes in the second half WILL lead to it's undoing in the playoffs if they aren't fixed.

I, personally, cannot wait until Light and Neal come back. Brady will have all day to throw again and everything will be right in the universe.

Hopefully Neal can go this week because I expect Williams to bring a lot of pressure.

I just got home from the game. If you would like me to change the thread title to "The Official: I can't be happy unless I'm unhappy thread", please let me know.

Nailed it!!!
