I know the whole story. But seriously look at the people throwing him the ball. The Patriots had no QB effectively as they kept starting guys for 2 or 3 games, then were dissatisfied and would bench them. They had like 4 guys n the rotation. It was a debacle. I'm talking about his numbers.
I understand your point (and its valid), its just not quite as valid as you might recall. In 1985 the Pats had the 14th passing yards per game, in 1986 they were 4th. In those seasons, Fryar was a disappointment, underachiever...
