PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp - Day 18

Not exactly a breakout team.

Doesn't matter. If you have 621 yards and 3 TDs, you didn't have a break out season. If you are the leading receiver with those stats, all it is a testament to how bad the rest of the offense was. Not that you a breakout receiver.

It's already been said: scratch that Declining BB and should have Never happen Mayo years. It's Hard to say Pop Douglas don't have some excuses. This is his second year with a real OC and QB: he also ad to endure the Bailey/Jones year.

Sure he had excuses, but he struggled for most of the season last year when others excelled.

Again, I hope he has a 1000 yard plus season, but it seems like every year people say this is the year he is going to breakout and he just hasn't yet.

Having his breakout season the year AJ Brown, Doubs, and Boutte are all big stories would be poor timing. Should’ve chosen last year for it.

There is a chance that the other receivers could take coverage off of Douglas and allow him to have a breakout season. It isn't crazy for two or three receivers on the same team to have 900 plus yards or even 1,000 plus yards when they have a top offense. It is rare, but it happens. The way Maye spreads the ball around, it is possible he could make it happen if he has an MVP year.

It provides context.
We had the worst passing offense in the league in 2024.
We were the only team with under 3000 passing yards.
Cincy lead with 4640 yards.
So yes, it does matter quite a bit.

It doesn't matter because it isn't a breakout season. Just because the offense sucked doesn't mean that him being the yardage leader on a bad offense means anything to whether it was a breakout season especially when he couldn't even get 700 yards.

BTW, I got the wrong season. It was the season before when he was the leader on the team in receiving with 561 yards and no TDs (2023). The following year, Hunter Henry was the receiving leader. Are you going to tell me a 561 yard, no TD season is a breakout year?

Shouldn't the WR6 be on the Practice Squad?
============================
We have a very good set of 5 WR's as long as all are healthy for Game 1. We also have OK choices for the PS.

I do believe that 6 is fine on the 53-man roster should we keep both Boutte and Douglass. We could keep six all year or make a trade before the deadline.

For years we’ve been hoping for some good weapons for our QBs. We’ve finally hit the mother lode. Brown & Doubs are one of the best 1-2 punches in football. Then add in Williams, Boutte, Douglas and Hollins, who’ve all had good camps this year, and all were involved in the offense last year. Just a ton of weapons for Maye. Then add in maybe Maye’s 2nd favorite target last year in TE Henry, and a real promising receiving TE in Raridon, the receiving options are the best we’ve had in many years.

“Whose fault was it…I wanna f***in know!!!!!”

Yes, whats the story on # 88 Cam Dorner?

Have not seen his name mentioned lately.

I believe that FB will play a more prominent role in this 2026 offense.

Pretty certain that theyll be a trade barring unforeseen circumstances.

Sad though.

That said: He's a slot specialist w high-functioning role-player energy. We're starting to look like with Kay, AJ, and Romeo all hitting on all cylinders, it'll be hard to justify many looks for the Pops and Williams of the world. But we'll keep them, and Chism too, for a rainy day. God knows, when it rains it pours when it's injury weather.

Don’t tell the Boutte truthers here, those kind of stats have made Kayshon indispensable.

We’re Patriots fans…we root for players on the team….especially those that were drafted and developed by the team. If that makes me a Truther (whatever that means)…so be it. Why do you post here if you aren’t a Patriots fan?

So discussing Boutte’s impending free agency and potential to be traded makes me anti-Patriot?

Discussing free agency and trades don’t make anyone anti-Patriot.
