Came across this last night:

How much does an NFL waterboy make?

The typical starting salary for a waterboy is $53,000 per year according to stack.com. However, with more experience one can earn a lot more than this. Waterboys are also provided with certain perks that can help push their salaries even higher.
Not a bad gig to make $50k+ a year. Would have thought at most it would have been like $28k-ish, but apparently, they're a little more generous than I expected.

They can all thank Bobby Boucher

Seems reasonable. I mean, it's a full time job for 5-6 months out of the year since you have to be there for all practices. I imagine the hours are quite long since you have to be ready before practice starts and probably clean up afterwards. And there's always this....

Damn they make more than some of Bill's assistants apparently.

Bet some teams throw bonus money at them too if they win playoff games.

Pretty sweet gig for about 20 game days (assuming they go on the road too) and maybe 2 months of TC/mini-camp in June-August.

I noticed in a few recent games where they had to hold the bottle up and shoot the water/gatorade into the players mouths. Not sure if thats a recent development, but it makes the job a little less desirable in my opinion.

Not a bad gig - until BB walks in for the post-game film breakdown.

"Johnson - inconsistent again. I'm seeing as much as a 2 ounce variation in the Blue, and the red is all over the place! Do your job!"

So this starts at a site called "stack.com" and then is written about by NBC Sports from which Yahoo Sports creates this article. The chain of custody on this sourcing might be shakey.

From the article:

If Bill really controls these rates (and I doubt it), he's probably at the left end of that bell curve.

Also from the article:

NFL Waterboy

Average Salary: $53,000

Job Description: Pouring water into sweaty dudes’ mouths and holding their gross towels. OK, that doesn’t sound too enticing. But are you going to be mad when Drew Brees motions you over to quench his thirst? We didn’t think so. You get tons of free gear, and, if you’re stealthy enough, you might even be able to steal Tom Brady’s jockstrap…er…jersey. Yeah, take the jersey. Did we mention you make $53,000 to shoot water in people’s faces?!

And More:

Bullpen Coach Salary: $90,000

PGA Caddie Salary: $1,500 and $3,000 per week

Sports Broadcaster Salary: $68,538

Scoreboard Operator Salary: $45,194

I NEED to know.

What kinda scratch does the team Dorito Dink pull?

I don't trust waterboys. Nobody notices them but they're always there, every practice, team meeting, individual position rooms, locker rooms, all the time, there but unseen...

Think of how many unnamed sources are actually waterboys. How many are actually undercover agents for other teams? The waterboy threat is real and happenning right under our noses and *nobody sees*.

Someone needs some fresh air.

Worth more too. Do your research. Game Day Thread.

is there a more professional term than “water boy”?

This will certainly incense LFGMac10 into a paroxysm of millennial fury. You mean there's no watergirls??? Oh wait...forgive my boomer ignorance...waterpeople?? Mr. bigshot CEO is sure to fire off a hasty tweet to Bob Kraft and inform him of his displeasure at such "boomer' ignorance and demand all 26 genders be included in any new waterpeople hires..or else!!

Yeah, they’re actually usually “athletic trainers” who do much more than serve water. They assist with warm ups/stretching and rehab and usually have sports medicine degrees.

Yeah agree was about to say something similar. Seems like they manage the entire sideline set-up, maybe headsets too, and as you note help with calisthenics and warm-ups. It's over simplying to say they just stand next to a gatorade tank. It's more akin to sideline operations and logistics.
