Interesting observation by Reiss about how giving Butler his chance is paying off with other UDFAs. Seems it may have been a factor with Foster as well as with the CBs.

Especially liked this:

"All three cornerbacks -- Bentley, Jones and LeBlanc -- had multiple suitors after the draft. Bentley and LeBlanc both received $17,500 in guaranteed money in their pacts with the Patriots, with Lewis saying there were slightly more lucrative offers elsewhere.".

So even the UDFAs are giving the Pats a discount!

How Malcolm Butler's success has helped Patriots in competition for undrafted rookies

Makes sense. The Patriots are one of few NFL teams where you truly must earn your spot - and any player can beat out any other player for a position regardless of tenure, if their skill warrants it.

Unfortunately, lost in all the deflategate nonsense is why Brady, Belichick, and the Patriots are so good. It's a shame because there is so much to learn and appreciate especially for true football fans.

The really sad part is that so many other teams would rather believe that the Pats must be cheating than to take a hard look at what they do differently. Otoh if they did look at what the Pats are doing they might learn from it and make it harder for the Patriots to continue to dominate.

The Pats always seem to be ahead of the curve. I think it has something to do with these two...
