@NEPD_Loyko: Cecil Shorts, Hartline, the names I've heard for #Patriots WR.. Eddie Royal, Harvin also possible.

I would be happy with any of them as a WR3. Harvin would obviously be the most exciting.

I've been chest thumping this for a while but Cecil Shorts strikes me as a perfect compliment to LaFell and Edelman. Nice hands and a good route runner. He would be a great value addition.

Yep, that's who I had in mind as well.

I like Eddie Royal too but would prefer Shorts or Hartline. Harvin would be #1 but also would cost the most, probably.

Maxwell is a solid corner who is benefiting from a slow cb year and team desperation

Based on the conversations I've had with people close to the situation over the past couple of days, I believe that McCourty is drawing serious interest from the Giants and the Philadelphia Eagles, each of whom is serious about spending big money to sign the top safety on this year's free-agent market. The Patriots also still hold out hope that McCourty will return to the team with which he won the Super Bowl last month, but my impression is that New England is not eager to get into a bidding war with outside suitors if McCourty is going to get a deal in the range of $9 million or $10 million per year.

Not sure why he'd be #1. Hasn't played more than 8 games in a season since 2011 and has only played a full season once.

Love how these New York and Philly guys have their takes on the McCourty situation. Which they completely overlook that Devin could very well take a slightly lesser deal offered by other teams to stay a Patriot.

Is anyone else concerned about the ability to retain hightower/Jones/Collins after paying Revis and Mccourty. Can any capologists explain if that's even possible to keep all of the players I've mentioned? @Miguel your assistance is needed!

I think McCourty realizes there is real value in being on Championship teams and winning. I also think McCourty loves playing in New England and playing for Belichick. Hopefully those things will matter enough for him to pass up more lucrative contracts.

@jamisonhensley: Torrey Smith writes in on-line post: "I will be playing for a different organization, but I will remain committed to the City of Baltimore."

That's astute of you. We will lose at least one of them. Solder is at issue too.
Let's get that 5th ring and worry about it later.

BTW, losing ALL these fine players is precisely what "Going All In" now results in.

@RapSheet: QB Mark Sanchez is heading back to the #Eagles, source said

@AdamSchefter: Mark Sanchez is going back to Eagles, 2 Year Deal, max value of $16M, $5.5M Guaranteed, per source.

@EliotShorrParks: Who do #Eagles have an interest in pairing with Byron Maxwell? Green Bay #Packers Tramon Williams, per source.

They will have tough decisions to make but they can keep most of them. I don't expect Solder's deal to be as big as we might have expected a couple of years ago, or they may simply allow him to go free agent. I also think that Jones may price himself out of New England and that would allow them to keep Collins and Hightower.

@eaglescentral: Per @JonandSeanShow, Eagles have re-signed free agent wide receiver Jeremy Maclin. Announcement coming later tonight. #Eagles

Miguel is certainly the best person to break down all of the specifics and finer nuances.

One (very) amateur thought is the simple reminder that Belichick deals with both the "here and now," while always keeping an eye towards the future. It is nothing new to have important players both now, and coming up for FA in the immediate future as well.

All 3 of the players you've listed will be up for free agency in the spring of 2017--two years from now (assuming the Pats pick up the 5th yr options on Jones/Hightower), so that likely gives the front office 2 full calendar years to try and work out the details.

As @PatsWickedPissah notes--we will not be able to keep ALL of our important players, and neither can any other NFL team, so we'll have to trust Belichick and his ability to prioritize.

I want them all, but if I had to spare one, I'd lean towards Mccourty. Thoughts on this?

Not really but that's a discussion for two years down the road.

McCourty is a separate NOW issue vs them in the future.
Those players are next up.
We cannot keep them all.

Sanchez being resigned means Foles is gone and will traded to move up for Mariotta.

Chip is getting his guy
