Having an experienced guard next to him instead of a rookie can only help as well. Two rookies next to each other on the left side of the OL is usually a recipe for disaster.

I don't expect a pro-bowl season. I expect serious improvement, which is fine. Having a competent LG next to him should help a lot.

Brady made the NE OL look a whole lot better than they actually were. He made lighting quick decisions and got the ball away fast.

Maye also made the 2025 NE OL look better than they were too. Maye used his superb mobility when pass plays broke down avoiding a sack and creating a positive play. The Pats played many teams who didnt have the scheme and talent to challenge Campbell. So, it all appeared fine, but it wasnt.

The Pats know all this and that's why Lomu was pick #31.

This was especially true during the early years. Those OL's were pedestrian. They really had to get creative with the T's cut blocking and Brady rolling out.

Bingo. I get the investment they made in starting Wilson at LG during the season, but not starting Ben Brown in the playoffs was in my opinion the worst coaching decision of the Vrabel era thus far.

I love this. I'm thinking most people in this thread haven't looked at the article or thought about what it means.

He's a competitor, and that doesn't go away with a loss. His performance during the playoff run into the SB is going to be nightmare fuel....for the rest of the league. He's going to have a Brady-sized chip on his shoulder for the rest of his career. He's doing exactly what winners do when they get kicked down. He's not whining. He's surrounding himself with people better than himself so he can learn, and continue to get better.

I expect a huge second year bump from him. Plus, with the improved people around him, and also Josh's second-year bump as a Drake whisperer, our OL is going to be good this year not just improved over the speed bump they were under Mayo. This entire offense is going to lay some ****ing wood.

Can't wait for the Seattle opener I just wish it were in Foxboro.

I listened to the Check the Mic podcast this morning. They broke down the seasons of the 2025 first round picks.

FWIW Mitch Schwartz didn't think the knee injury Campbell had was that serious for an OT.

Their assessment was that due to his lack of wingspan Campbell has to be 100% perfect in his technique. Other tackles with longer arms have an easier time recovering during a rep if they have the reach.

Need Drake to have a Pro bowl season for this to work again. Priority 1 Drake, fix your short game passes. Utilize the Underneath stuff with your backs. 3 to 8 yard range, touch passing that even the Fullback can catch! Quick, accurate and out in under 2 seconds like Brady did.

Future all pros? Christian Gonzalez, Drake Maye, Treyveyon Henderson, Milt Williams, Hunter Henry, Marcus Jones, Brenden Schooler...heck, even AVT if he stays healthy. Guy's very good.

You guys are in dreamland about Will Campbell becoming elite cuz he's hanging out with other elite OTs. It doesn't get spread around like a virus. He's got inconsistent footwork in pass pro (He is very good in run blocking.), inadequate wingspan, and lacks strength. Just saying.

Most of them already made it. Henderson will have a difficult time because the Pats rarely have had a high volume RB. Steven Ridley in 2012 was their best shot of a RB making All Pro. Milton Williams won't make it if continues to use his energy towards the run game - it's going to wear him out. He wasn't paid all that money to be Vince Wilfork. Needs to get the sack numbers up. No on Henry.

Yes, many are in dreamland about Campbell and are in denial that he was hanging on for dear life before his injury. I'm most concerned about his lack of strength at the point of attack where his lack of wingspan won't allow him to recover. Some posters think it's the end of the world if he moves to G, but the Pats can't rely on AVT. Lomu could play LT with Campbell at G and the Pats will have to replace Moses at RT regardless.
