I didn't know he was still with us. I caught the end of his Dale and Eddie show on EEI when I first started listening to sports radio.

Before the Sports Huddle there was only boring Guy Maniella, and some Sunday night show on a small station (forget the name).

True great in sports radio.

Eddie, Mark and Jim were interesting and funny, way back in 1969. I used to listen to the Sports Huddle every Sunday evening on WBZ radio. o Never really listened when he was on WEEI. Rest in Peace, Eddie.

One of the first people I remember listening to back in the early days. He was just terrific, and absolutely enjoyed listening to him and Dale Arnold. Definitely a legend. #RIP

For as much as he could drive one nuts with his brashness, it was still the “innocent” era where they truly were his views and he defended them.

It was after his era - when he was replaced by Ordway, and then Felger made a competing program - that the modern era of sports radio as trolling began. Eddie was great because he was able to entertain by being himself, unlike these fake troll baiting guys today that i refuse to listen to.

I remember one time when the NY Giants were coming to Mass to play the Pats (who were pathetic) and Eddie wanted to build temporary toll booths that charged only cars with NY plates because they were likely Yankee fans.

I listened to him for many years, but towards the end he would talk more about his trips to LV and the buffets. He'd combine that with toll both workers on the mass pike and what great jobs they had.

Wow! I assumed he passed years ago.

He was a pioneer of Boston sports radio. The Big Show era passed him by, but every single sports talk show host on both radio station owe a lot to him. Without Eddie, there would be no Boston sports radio. He was the first to bring it mainstream in this area.

Wouldn’t miss “The Sports Huddle” on Sunday nights back in the 70’s. Even called into the show once in s while, He always seemed like a great guy and certainly loved his Missus, the “Fabulous Judy”!
