Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
Thanks for bringing up the health of Nix.. from what we know it's a broken ankle right? Now... guys have a hard enough time coming back from high ankle sprains.. let alone a broken one.. who's to say nix will be the same player.. not that he's some spectacular passer but he relies alot on his escapabiltiy..

Why I feel better about us?

Simple. Drake and Vrabel. This regime knows what the 2025 patiots were and all thier flaws. Hence Vrabel didn't bring back any of the some guys that played big roles in 2025.

He knows they need better at those position. He knows they far surpassed expectations.. however winning 10 games in a row wasn't a fluke and they put them in the postiion to make a run last season

Nix has broken his ankle at every level of play - high school, college, and the pros. Normally I wouldn’t worry about a broken ankle. But his doctors said this break was due to a pre-existing condition. Is it some kind of bone condition that will lead to more breaks? Will the multiple operations to his ankle leave enough scarring that can affect his play and mobility?

When will Mahomes even play? His mechanics are getting really sloppy - very late 90's Bledsoe esque and 2000's Favre. The street ball style is starting to catch up to him. Also, KC has been arguably worse in drafting WR's than the Pats dating back to the late 90's. So getting their offense back on track will be easier said than done. Kelce really should've retired, but I have a feeling he's coming back for the wrong reasons (staying relevant for Taylor Swift). Walker was a nice addition as they've neglected the RB position since they initially released Kareem Hunt. The defense is aging and lost their two starting CB's. Chris Jones is getting older. Denver's roster blows KC out of the water. KC isn't going to a threat for a while.
Mahomes started looking mortal the moment his OLine became a weakness. Letting Orlando Brown walk because they were broke has been a problem, they haven’t found an answer at LT since. Fix that OLine and watch as they magically improve. Football is won in the trenches.
I think Nix's ankle could be a problem going forward. I don't know why they didn't target a RB in FA to help take the pressure off of Nix. I see them drafting one within the first 3 rounds of the draft.
Denver also has to hope that Nix doesn’t plateau or worse start to regress as teams build tape on him. Luckily for him Payton is an offensive genius and provides smart scheme. They have a good oline and great defense… two Sean Payton staples.

At the end of the day what do all these teams have in common? Smart coaches and team builders. They’ll all remain competitive assuming health.

I don’t think there’s been a post about AJ Brown in last 4 pages. I know it’s sort of wait and see right now with him so may we need to revisit with a AJ Brown Part II (a post draft thread)

WTF was that
...asked everybody in North America for the last few months, with no reply forthcoming.

6 SEVen, as the kids say, but we don't know why.

Ouch!! I didn't know this!! So he's had previous issues. Yeah.. learning this I'd say it's going to likely be a hindrance to him in his playing career. As I mentioned he relies alot on escaping and using his mobility. Also who's to say he's even healthy enough to be ready for camp?

As you mentioned he had to have surgery right?

Whatever we're willing to offer the Eagles for AJ Brown, I would rather offer to the Falcons for Drake London. He's five years younger, doesn't have a degenerative knee injury, his production is increasing not decreasing and from all accounts he's not a diva or malcontent. Going into a contract year, I'm sure the Falcons would be open to an offer.

What I believe is at play here according to some of What I have been following. Supposedly there's a handshake agreement in place with Philly to acquire AJ by or after the June 1 date. If this is true then it's probably why were aren't hearing to much reporting on it.. so we'll see...

Why would the Falcons trade Drake London?

They have a ton of cap space the next few years and as you said is not malcontent. Which is the only reason why the Eagles are considering trading AJ Brown.

Agreed. The AJ situation kinda reminds me of randy moss.. ultra talented but had some issues.. although AJ from what I've followed on his is a consummate professional off the field. It's a matter of time at this point before AJs in a patiots uniform.

It's been reported that there is a considerable difference in what they've offered him and what he's looking for. They also want to pay Kyle Pitts. And they have a lot of needs, so extra draft picks might be enticing. Look. I'm not saying it's particularly likely, but I'd be asking the question.

That could be a valid reason or it could be the Falcons have offered him an early extension with a discount in mind and Drake wants to be paid like he is heading into FA.

That doesn't mean the Falcons won't eventually pay the him his money slightly less than a year from now.

The only way I see the Falcons trading Drake right now is if 1, he demands an extension or a trade otherwise he sits.

2. A team offers the Falcons an offer they cant refuse

I see your point Tommy.. let me ask.. would you had felt better facing Josh Allen who carved us up 5 consecutive scoring drives in a row Or Jarrett Stidham who we barely beat in the AFCCG?...
Josh Allen. He carved up the 3rd stringers on 5 consecutive drives on short fields because we couldn't cover a kick, and barely escaped with a win.

I really hope the Josh Allen hero worship finally starts to fade going forward.

Good point.

Allen was facing a depleted Pats defense, not the one that was shutting teams down in the playoffs.

Tommy you and I agree on most things.
This is the one topic where our opinions vary significantly.
I think he’s the best QB in the league, you think Maye has that honor.
It certainly isn’t worship, just recognition of a great player.
I would like nothing better to change my opinion on Josh, that would mean his play has fallen off and thus Buff would be a much easier opponent.

Easy to cherry pick stats.
He also leads the league in total TDs the last 3 years by a large margin.
He has 21 turnovers in the last 2 years, Maye has 27.
Everyone has their opinion, not going to try and change anyone’s mind.
I sincerely hope he is as bad as some here think, should make our task of winning the division that much easier.

He's among the best in the league and continually drags that terrible franchise into the playoffs. Our worst nightmare is the Bills actually building a good team around him which I don't see happening. They are too far gone.

Josh Allen is the best QB In the league.. I have to admit that.. I agree he can commit silly TOs but I didn't want to see him in the AFCCG seen as how we barely beat stink-ham... is all i was trying to say..
