CB L'Jarius Sneed was just released. Would he be a good cheap signing?

I feel like some team would sign him to start.
He wouldn't start here. Hard to justify giving him any real money - but it's on him at that point.

He's basically a replacement-level player. I wouldn't hate him in theory as depth, and can technically play slot and boundary corner both.

But I'd expect some cornerback deficient team to give him something resembling starter money.

I think he’s KC bound. Been there before, more playing time for sure and they’re desperate for corner help.

Yeah, that's the sort of thing I'm talking about. He'd start for KC, start for Buffalo, teams like that.

Wonder if that's why KC had no problem letting their top 2 CBs leave.

Maybe they knew Sneed getting cut was in the works

I'd inquire. Our top 3 CB is pretty dominant but (1) there's no depth behind them and (2) there is one weakness of MJones being so small that sometimes he's just overmatched in certain matchups out of the slot (see the ATL game vs. Drake London in the redzone as an example). Snead is 6'1" and has experience in the slot from his KC days. On paper a guy with size who can back up outside and inside and possibly get some situational snaps over MJones for certain matchups would be a real nice add.

However, he's getting cut for a reason. And if he does have anything left in the tank, another team with more opportunity might agree. I think we should look to add a vet CB depth option at some point here in the next few weeks because the cupboard is pretty bare besides developmental guys, but not sure we have the opportunity available to draw any of the best depth option types. Any high end depth solution probably has to come through the draft. And that's a spot we should be looking at with some level of priority too, IMO.

No question he'd be a perfect #4 who has experience both in the slot and out wide, but I agree with the conventional wisdom that he'll like want to go somewhere where he'll get the opportunity to start and KC seems like the perfect fit. BTW, they lost not only both their starting CB's, but one of their S's as well. I'm curious as to what their plan might be to rebuild and entire secondary.

He’s 29. He signed a four year $76 million contract with Tennessee after they traded for him in 2024.

In 2025 he played 7 games and missed 10. Started camp on PUP after off season knee surgery and lingering quad issues. Suffered another quad injury against the Pats and missed the final 10 games of the season on IR.

With that history I’d be worried about his speed and durability.

Which of these does he check:
__Better
__Cheaper
__Younger

Struck out, oh for three, being on PUP and IR is not better.

I’ll pass, thanks. I’d rather draft a developmental prospect and use the roster slot to build them up.

Titans release CB L'Jarius Sneed, save $11.4M on salary cap

This guy was so overrated in KC much like Jamel Dean in Tampa. Both players signed big deals only to get cut only two years later and in Dean's case, give money back so he could become a FA.

Pats got lucky with the Davis signing last year as his deal was way more than many expected. He played well and took it up a notch in the playoffs.

Pats are fine with Gonzalez, Davis and Jones. Draft another CB as insurance for Davis.
