Player Signing Romeo Doubs Signs

Solid guy to replace Diggs as a chain moving reliable type still need the true WR1 or we're no better than last year.
Problem is does that basically just mean we need to replace Boutte? He fits that type of player but is not consistent enough.

Boutte's production and youth are valuable here.

We've been talking about Alec Pierce and the truth is that Boutte's 2025 was just as good if not better than Pierce's

Boutte is a free agent after this year. Not sure he is going to be resigned.

And I don't think he was just as good or better than Pierce. He was very good, but his play was inconsistent. At times he played like a good #1. Others he was completely invisible. I think people overrate him.

I enjoyed having Diggs on the team last year, because we got a respite from people complaining about the Pats not having a number one receiver. Replacing Diggs with Doubs means those questions are going to be back in full effect.

Doubs is a good chain mover, but I like my X receivers with some game breaking ability which just isn't him.

Of the remaining receiving free agents he's probably the best but that isn't saying much.

All these WRs getting literally double what they’re actually worth.

Wes Welker had 434 yards receiving when he was 24, 687 when he was 25, when the Pats got him for a second and seventh round pick. He had 1175 yards his first year with the Pats.

Doubs had 601 yards when he was 24, 724 yards when he was 25, and the Pats just got him without having to spend a pick.

Guys can improve you know.

I realize you got to overpay to get a WR in this market but for it to be a third option paid like a number 2 who's going to as if this moment be your number 1 is what I'm annoyed with.

Disagree 100000%
To each their own. This is a wretched and unnecessary signing because of the amount of cash being pissed away on a guy who at his absolute best day is a 2 and his worst day is much less. Either way he’s now a Patriot so I have to sit here and root for him but should have paid the Eagles what they wanted instead of overpaying for mediocrity that will be a cap casualty next year or the year after.

What if he produces more than Romeo Doubs this season??

Ive never seen so many different salary reports this soon. 3/60, 4/70, and 4/80.

Packers fans are really talking him up on Reddit and will miss him, been a theme with Vrabel signings.
Yeah, Breer updated his post, he had it wrong the first time.

would have preferred to bring Diggs back tbh

hope doubs does well with Maye

If everyone is getting double what you think they're worth, the issue probably lies in your view of what market value is for receivers.
I understand market value just fine. I disagree with where the market is at on average WR 2s
