Patriots Rumor Tracker / FA Signings (Updated: Signings in OP - 4/7)

Does no-one think BTJ potentially being available in his rookie contract, a first round pick no-less is a big red flag?
If it was the same coach and GM, absolutely. But with a new coach and GM and a new offensive system not necessarily. Could be, just not as obvious as if the GM and coach who drafted him were moving on so quickly.

Thomas Jr would be the Best WR here... heck Romeo Doubs would be our best WR here that's how pathetic we are there. Let's stop kidding ourselves: last year we fell just short. Our Offense sucked in the Playoffs cost Maye the MVP.

Pats shoulda been in on michael pittman jr
I said on this board a week or 2 ago colts can't keep both. Late rd pick swap. Highway robbery.
Chenal is 25 and I love his versatility. I'm all in on him right now. I can see him being Spillane's future replacement too. If he was in this year's draft, he'd be locked in to my mocks.
I think Leo chenal could play edge in a mike vrabel defense. He would be a great sign

If he's the best WR, why are the Jaguars potentially getting rid of him at a bargain price within his rookie contract?

He could as a designated pass rusher certainly. I don't think he has the bend to do so on a permanent basis although his 6.98 3-cone certainly works in his favour. He has the size and explosion.

I'm sold on Chenal.

Would not mind CB depth (Nahshon Wright, Riq Woolen).

Need a safety, and another EDGE.

Possible trade targets: AJ Brown, BTJ, Kayvon Thibodeaux.

Clearly, you don't because you're claiming that Philly has already received them for Players that are signing as part of this free agency.. Which isn't the case. Not to mention that you haven't taken into consideration anyone they could sign.

I wouldn't hate a Thomas Jr. trade especially if they are targeting the position in the top of the draft. The pause is why is he on the market; what is going on other than production is down. 23 yr. old who has had success in the league. I could take a chance on that if it costs just the 31st pick.

I'm re-thinking Chris Bell right now should he make it to 63. If the team wants an Alec Pierce/AJ Brown type WR, Bell is about as close as it gets in this draft class. It might mean one step backwards for 2025, but in terms of cap space and draft capital, two steps forward beyond that. i'm not out on Stribling either.

I am really hoping for Leo Chenal from KC today. If ever there was a Vrabel type guy. A more explosive Hightower type LB. 6-3, 250 and an elite athlete (40" vert, 1.55 10 yard split). He can give you reps off the edge and even had reps at DT for the Broncos. He's very good at shedding blocks too.
I love the player, but Chenal is not really a scheme fit unless you think they’re planning on moving him to OLB. I don’t think so, simply because they have Landry coming back from surgery and a promising 2nd year player in Ponder. It’s one of the more secure positions on the team, especially if you consider Swinson and the ability to take fliers on some late round draftees and UDFA’s.

Some smallish fast LB’s to consider would be Lions Malcolm Rodriguez, Joe Bachie from the Colts, the patron saint of small fast LB’s Isaiah Simmons or an old guy floating around there like Troy Reeder or Zach Cunningham. The draft is a great place to find these guys and the options might be better there.

They need another safety to play next to Woodson. Give me Nick Cross or sign oldie but goody Kevin Byard and draft a guy for the future.

They could use another RB, a vet who can pass block, run on early downs to spell Rham and return kickoffs. Give me. Isaiah Pacheco, the guy runs like his hair is on fire and has developed into a capable pass blocker.

They could use another vet TE, I like Foster Moreau or Dallas Goedert, both give you a little more in the blocking game but can still affect the passing game and have reliable hands. Njoku would be nice but might be pricy and has injury issues.

There’s a few value vet WR’s but not much beyond older guys. They’ll probably sign a body or two here but they’re best served drafting some guys. Vet WR’s are expensive, rookie WR’s are cheap.

I may have screwed up and named some guy who already signed with a team, I can’t keep up with them all.

WR at 31 will be a gamble as well. We've learned the hard way that picking a WR in the 1st is no guarantee of success.

BTJ a bit of a gamble, but I had a much higher grade on him than I do on any WR in this draft, and he would be locked in for 3 years, at low cost. Not ridiculous, IMO.

Really wanted the Pats to draft him in 2022. Hope they go after him hard, but I think there is competition from a few teams.
He's a good special teamer as well, but not quite fully realised his potential yet on defence, only playing 53% of snaps in 2025 (which was his most). He has real upside and could be a great value signing

They cut Tavai and Chenal could walk into that spot on the roster. He could also replace 32 year old Spillane in the future. Chenal ran a 4.53 forty. That's fast by any linebacker standard. That's faster than Luke Kuechly and only 7/100s slower than Sonny Styles. Guy is a freak.

Rumors are Bell is ahead of progress, will be ready for 2027, and that teams are re-thinking him for the 1st round.

Now now, if Bell checks out that would be very enticing. Its a big gamble so they would need some kind of plan B.

Yeah, I loved him as a rookie prospect. He did a lot of dirty work for the Chiefs and has barely scratched the surface. I just wonder how he’d be used here, Vrabel prefers small quick LB’ers.

Tavai would have been too expensive to cut last year, plus he was dealing with something to start the season. They were basically forced to roster him. He was gone quickly this offseason.
