Player Signing Tommy DeVito re-signed

Devito will be Maye's Bryan Hoyer.
???

Hoyer was and is a seasoned vet that could mentor a young QB and give him the benefit of his 15 years of experience in the NFL and experience with various systems (having played on 8 teams and against many more teams).

DiVito is a 3-year "veteran" with little experience. If anything, Maye could be DiVito's mentor (having more experience) and could help DiVito perhaps develop into a solid backup or even a weak starter.

Hoyer wasn’t Brady’s mentor.
Maye doesn’t need a backup qb who can’t win a starting job to learn from.

Devito's got a little something. He's not an all-pro, but should something happen, I feel like he could hold the fort down in the meantime.

I like this as a sneaky signing.
Agreed. I was pretty damn happy when I heard that. Also shows he wanted to stay.

Dobbs, for whatever you think of him as a player, at least is better suited for the mentor role (8 years, 8 teams before NE).

sure he did; Perhaps he didn't want to wait to see if he could get a better offer after NE moved on.

He probably thinks that this contract was a good opportunity for him. Vrabel may have even told him that the wanted the consistency of keeping the same QB room for another year.

one this theme, I just read where the Cowboys just signed Sam Howell to be a back up QB. He's a guy with a lot of starting experience and I wondered what that means to "old friend" Joe Milton and his million dolllar arm and 10 cent head. It seems clear that Howell will back up Prescott as #2. Milton won't be happy about that. Could it be that the Pats "fleeced" that 6th round pick from them.

I'll give Milton some more credit than that. He's got a $50 head or so.
