NFL News DJ Moore to Buffalo

Share the latest NFL news from around the league here.
Time to trade for AJ Brown, sign Pierce in free agency, and then sign Buffalo's left guard and center away from them in free agency too.
I would assume this move would include sending Bouttee to the Eagles as part of the trade for Brown. Him and Pierce would be redundant.

Yeah, if they just cut Diggs (after probably his most stellar character/leadership on field season of his life), then they probably don't want to risk another aging potential diva like AJ Brown.
Go young & hungry - Pierce with a rising core group of Boutte/Williams and Hollins is still a vet leader who can produce.
We didn't cut Diggs because of his age.

Please list all the legal concerns with Brown and his next court date. Then, you might have a better comparison to Brown.

And, NO, I don't expect us to trade for Brown, certainly not before June 1st.

Do you think we’ll just run it back with what’s on the roster minus Diggs?

No, the choice was always Diggs or a replacement or two.

However, this team needn't be built around a $35M AAV WR. For us, we might spend more of our money on a pass-rusher and an veteran OL.

But, yes, I expect to see us sign or trade for a WR or two.

2nd round pick getting a 5th rounder and DJ Moore back.

Pretty much strengthens the Eagles, if DJ Moore is basically worth a 2nd then hard to say AJ Brown isn't worth more.

Just sign Pierce. It’s just $$. I’m not pumped about giving up $$ AND valuable picks.

I would be fine with giving up a 2nd AND a 5th for AJB with nothing else coming back to Pats.

They took on 40m of guarantees too, that's a brutal deal.

I would like the Pats to have gotten him as long as they got Brown or Pierce too. I wouldn't want him as the #1.

Don't like that the Bills got him. They haven't had a good WR since Diggs. He could turn back into a 1300 yard WR (although that year was skewed by a ridiculous game of over 200 yards).
Shame I thought he might come to Pats. But I'm much more excited with the prospect of Pierce or AJ signing.

Am I the only one who believes that the Pats could actually both sign Pierce and trade for Brown? I am not betting for it. I am guessing the will do at least one of those. But neither guy is going to be paid top WR money. Both will or are making #2 WR money in today's NFL.

My guess is that the Bills trading for Moore means they were already out of the Pierce and Brown race. I see Moore as the consolation prize to those two. That probably means that Pierce has already cut a deal with someone, but cannot announce it until the legal tampering period.

You know… I would’ve liked him. But out of him, Pierce, and Brown. He was option 3. I’m ok with it.

I'd like Pierce (keep all our picks), AJ then DJ Moore. If Marvin Harrison Jr and Brian Thomas Jr are actually available DJ Moore would be last out of all of them.

ESPN notes they can make moves to absorb that. And they're going to take that $44M hit no matter what; it's just a question of when.

Oh I don't care what ESPN reports. They said we watched the Rams walkthrough and wouldn't stop reporting that trash. The math is just common sense. Dead cap is money paid, but not yet accounted for on the cap. It typically comes through converting salary to signing bonus. If traded before June 1, Philly has to account for $48 million already paid to AJ. They save 5 million. So the net is $43. There is not way of absorbing it prior to June 1. With all the restructures and contracts they need to do, they will be at $100 mil in dead cap this season of thy trade AJ prior to June 1, 2026. If the trade takes place post June 1, Philly can absorb the hit by splitting the money into 26 and 27. I think its like $26 this year and $16 next year or something like that. I assure you, Philly cannot break the rules and absorb it any other way. They paid the money already. That have to account for it.

Kyle Williams developing into a more dynamic route runner solves all of this.

You get Pierce for his deep threat capability, you get Williams to replace what Diggs provided as a down to down guy.

are you sitting down for this

At some point we need to just accept what the market actually is. Subtracting Diggs and adding Pierce isn't a net positive. And frankly, it plays against our strengths. You don't pay for a guy who only can go deep when your line is a liability and you don't want the QB hanging back there waiting too long.

Well that’s my reservation as well. Bouttee already does a lot of what Pierce does at a much cheaper price.

Literally a few days ago people were saying we would have Diggs and Brown.

Yup. We have guys that can do what Pierce does if we can give Maye the time. We've seen it all year. We do not have a consistent versatile WR1 that demands coverage because he is going to mismatch MOST assignments. Which is why Brown is superior. It gives us a dimension we actually lack and can ease up some of the issues on the line.

Yeah it will be expensive. Elite players are expensive.

It will be interesting to see if top tier UFA now want to come to NE. Hopefully Drake, Vrabel and $ will make it so
