Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
Brown’s track record as a problem child is concerning. Pierce’s track record is more encouraging imo.
Not really a lengthy track record at all. Wanted to get paid in Tennessee so they traded him. Wanted the ball in Philadelphia and they didn’t give it to him as much and made noise in the background that he wanted to be a Patriot and he grew up as a fan and idolized Brady.

I don’t see how these things would follow him here unless of course they don’t throw the ball to him.

His targets in Philly 145,158, 97 (in 13 games) 121 (in 15 games.)
Per 17 games

No matter how many times he gets thrown to he will complain.

But that’s all WR1s. They all complain about the same stuff. That’s more or less normal. Hence the term diva. Drake needs someone who is a game breaker so the team needs to go out and get a WR1 and because it comes with the territory they’ll be a diva.

This is really simple. If Piece wants to come, then he'll be here.
I was listening to an interview with Pierce where they asked him about his various destinations and he sounded like he mainly cared about the money. And having a good QB. He was high on Josh Allen throwing him the ball.

Yep. They know him best, right now. And they’re showing what they think of him and how they value him by the moves they’re making.
I believe they still haven’t (will they ever) recover from the Andrew Luck retirement and with Anthony Richardson as their only real existing option they panicked and placed the transition tag on a guy who still appears to be a “less than average” QB based on his playing/record history. Like it or not we’re in the “who #1” situation with our WR’s (cripes, we’re still not sure if we have a real #2). I’d take the chance and “show him the money” since I’d much rather have him than Brown to rely on and having a deep threat for Maye NOW is our #1 priority. We shouldn’t waste this “LUCKy” opportunity!!

Never heard of the guy Savage is referencing. So I don't know if it is BS or not. But I figured I would pass it along.

That’s just not true. Every top receiver doesn’t publically complain about targets when they are getting as many as Brown gets. Almost none do.
We were the #2 offense in the nfl, and Maye had the highest completion % and passer rating in the league without a “game breaker” and with an offense that spread the ball and emphasized team
It’s not worth destroying the culture to get a guy who thinks he needs every target and pouts and takes plays off when he doesn’t.
Diva is a negative not a positive on a football team.

For what Philly is asking? A hard no from me.

I’d rather spend money and draft picks on the OL and at Edge Rusher.

There is little chance the Pats would do a first for Brown.
And from what I've read the cap implications will hinder any trade. It's why the Eagles want a first, plus additional compensation.
Can Brown resturcture his contract before a trade is made to make the cap hit on Philly a non-issue?

Well, let's hope the Pats drive up the price for Pierce so Buffalo, who are in desperate need for a good WR, will overpay for him.

Edit: I didn't realize that Buffalo is in a deep hole cap-wise. It will be a little tough to add a $25M (give or take) WR to their roster.

2 parts to this:

- "The Eagles care more about the cash than the cap": this is what I have been saying for weeks. Brown is due an option bonus in about a week for around $30M. They can trade that option bonus to a new team if he is moved before then. So, they will become desperate to move him in a few days. They don't want to become responsible for that money even if it makes their 2026 cap hit larger, because long-term it is a better cash savings.
- "Who do they replace him with?": I wonder if they are trying to get a WR back in trade, something like Brown in exchange for Boutte and a pick. I am guessing NE might be open to that, because Brown will take up many of Boutte's snaps anyway, but if they send Boutte then they aren't going to want to give up much draft capital in addition.

I have to think Pierce's agent knows what each team is willing to offer at this point.

Pats
Raiders
Bills
Jets
Chefs will all be in on Pierce.
A dude who has only had a single 1k season (and just barely) and topped out at 47 receptions is going to get paid a ton.

Get Brown, Pierce is icing if you can get him to stretch the field, but with our line, it's a ****ing disaster if the big replacement to Diggs is only a guy who can stretch the field and will require Maye sitting in the pocket. Especially with us playing better defenses this year

maybe
personally, I don't that's true.
Did the agents KNOW that BUF would pay what they did for Moore? I suspect that the agant doesn't know what Pierce, KC and others might pay.

Of course, if the issue isn't money, then a few million won't make a difference.

I've always heard that agents and GMs casually talk at the combine about hypothetical players who happen to have the same stats as the agent's player and what a hypothetical offer could be. It makes the agent's job a lot easier to know who to talk to when the legal tampering period starts and for the GMs to know to target elsewhere if they can't afford the price.

Had a buddy texted me he read somewhere they offered a 2 and a 5. I haven't read that, but it sounds right.
