I didn’t care about Brady winning the MVP either because it was a forgone conclusion. That year was personal for the players, coaches and fans and the 16-0 was a big FU to the entire league. That Super Bowl ended up being the biggest nightmare for any Pats fan.

The irony was that they lost to the Giants the same way they beat the Rams 6 years prior. They became Goliath and lost to the little engine that could. It was a tough reality for fans to face.

The common denominator in both favorites losing was the inability to adjust and suspect coaching decision(s). Bill kicking on 4th and 13 stands out. I don't even remember if the Giants scored on the following possession. Maybe it does not matter. That play gave them confidence, lost the Patriots three points possibly, and set the tone.

The Rams did not go no huddle early enough nor did they give it to Faulk at the rate they should have.

I don't believe effort or desire was a problem for either favorite. Nor do I think they overlooked the underdog. They got in to situations they were not used too and it did not know how to react.

And remember, his JOB is to analyze information and make judgements based that info. So when THAT is your job, you are going to be wrong many MANY times. I literally watch sports BECAUSE we can't predict the results with any great regularity. So why should we damn Orlofsky for being wrong this time.

The issue is that Stafford got “career achievement” votes and his buddy cast the deciding vote and had a stupid argument for why.
Stafford is the first MVP in something like 40 years that wasn’t on a 1 or 2 seed. Doesn’t that kind of make him unworthy?

And the guy who put Herbert who was an average QB this year at best at #1 is a travesty. Maye wins without that guy voting.
Ironically as every football fan knows PFF analysis is garbage and the PFF guy just chose the MVP with his stupid, moronic, ignorant, uninformed vote.
 
I think the MVP votes being so close is what the voters got right. Stafford winning in a landslide would have been ludicrous. But he was deserving and I had no issue with either winning.

But it’s MOST valuable not one of the most.
It’s been a long time, something like 40 years since a player won who wasn’t a 1 or 2 seed team. Doesn’t that make him undeserving?

Rams without Staffird are probably in the playoffs. Patriots without Maye are lucky to win 5 games.

I understand. But some judge based off stats. Other judge based of importance to team. I don't know what MVP truly means anymore. Just so confusing. It applies to all sports.

I don't think it's a robbery by any means. I felt last year LJ should have won.
 
From a Pats point of view, could it have worked out any better? Our 23 yo QB finishes in a near dead heat for MVP. I'd be pissed if I were him. Probably not the worst thing. In addition, I'm not sure what the salary implications are for being one of the youngest ever MVPs in league history are, but I don't mind that he was close but no cigar. It's not like we don't think he was deserving, as do his teammates. He's already the anointed one....

Going into the Super Bowl with the advantage at quarterback is always a good feeling. It doesn't guarantee a win, but I would always rather have the better quarterback.

It's actually simple, who made the biggest difference for their team. As I have said elsewhere that's clearly Stafford. He got a ****ty team to the 5th seed in the NFC that's an incredible accomplishment.

The biggest question that should be answered is why was Tiffany Haddish even there to begin with? Hollywood always trying to plant people that have no business being there.

Well, he achieved what he wanted. Nobody would know or care about his opinion if he voted for Stafford or Maye, but after his vote for Herbert, he's the talk of the day. Who cares about whether your opinion holds under any scrutiny if you gain notoriety and clicks?

That's unfortunately how social media and to a large extent, how modern media and the news operate these days.

He's a good player but he only played 8 seasons at a position where you can amass a bunch of stats that might ultimately mean nothing for the outcome of the game. I can think of a few other LBs who had longer and equal or better careers who probably won't be in the HOF.

edit: It took Zach Thomas 10 years of eligibility. London Fletcher is not in the HOF. Keith Brooking is not. Demeco Ryans isn't. Will Lavonte David be in the HOF?

There isn't a single player who played alongside or across from Kuechly who doesn't say he was in another world in terms of talent and understanding of the game. The only player I've heard get similar praise is Aldon Smith, who had an otherwise unfortunate career (but seems to be back on track and really finding a new life, fwiw). Watching his play, you saw it.

Are the arguments for others? And especially for those overlooked? Of course. However, that should not work against Kuechly.

Rob Parker is making the rounds this week. He missed having the Pats to pick against. I suppose Maye is now the new "LOAT" (luckiest of all time).
