One nay voter explanation - he wanted to vote for the seniors where this was their last chance:
Bill Belichick belongs in the Hall of Fame. But here’s why I didn’t vote for him

What an idiot. That’s not what the point of the process is. You’re not there to game the system.

“I figured everyone else would vote for Bill so I voted for the older guys to try to boost them. Whoops!”

Then don’t declare BB eligible until he is. Then not getting in on the first ballot is not an issue.
They shouldn't have ever changed the process to begin with. It did cause issues. According to one voter, someone even said "he's only been gone for 2 seasons, he might be coaching here again in a year or so".

This happens in all HOF's unfortunately.

Untrue. Not a lot. Some who deserved it, yes. But, not a lot. Wanna try again? I' m patient...

...and wrong.
It's not going to make those six Lombardis burst into flames or get you excommunicated to acknowledge he was a richard to plenty of media (and league) types. He was and we loved it. We also enjoyed when one of them would ask an interesting question and Bill would deep dive.

Seriously? The absurdity of the result guaranteed most of the football loving universe was going to question 'the integrity' of that so-called process.

So is this like when the Oscars reward some actor who is “due” but then bypass other great performances and then have to give THOSE actors make-up Oscars later for middling performances? Because its dumb as hell there as well.

They just do away with this sitting in a room or on a conference call BS and just list the ballot and have the 50 people write yes or no to each candidate and publish the votes, you don't need to present cases for and against people everyone has a vote and their own opinion.

Then there can't be any of this BS where you vote for my guy i'll vote for your guy next time, we'll keep this guy out for a year to teach him a lesson ect everyone should be forced to do their own research.

Also they need to refresh some of these voters some of these guys are dinosaurs who barely follow the current league anymore.

I don’t wanna be that guy .. BUT…Bill did what he needed to do to win. He did it. Repeatedly. There are PLENTY on this board who lambasted him on the way out. I get it we are the fans and we get a voice, but without him NONE of this would have happened. Personally was disappointed in New Englanders especially for the huge FU at the end and the lack of I feel respect the man absolutely deserved. Not here for the whole Brady/Bill horseshit…check my avatar .. I know where I stand.

If Polian is going to make that kind of declarative statement (i.e. lie), it means there will never be an official acknowledgement of what happened. They're not going to tarnish one of their golden boys*

*Why he's a golden boy is ****ing beyond me. He's a ********ed loser compared to the titans he "judges" worthy of the Hall.

I didn't like how BB ended things here but this is a joke he's a first ballot without a doubt

Belichick will make the HOF eventually. He will have his detractors because of the Spygate scandal and the fact he wasn't very likable to the press or in his interviews.

However there is no denying that BB was a defensive genius and one of the greatest head coaches of all time in terms of total accomplishments. 6 Superbowl victories and 333 regular season wins.

Yes he couldn't have done it without TB12 and got a little bit exposed when he lost Brady, but there are a lot of great head coaches who couldn't win the Superbowl without having a HOF level QB talent to lean on as well. Just look at Andy Reid most recently.

BB will make it into the HOF. I'm not even worried about that, it's just a matter of time. I did not like BB the GM over the last decade or so of his tenure but BB the coach was still an undeniable Xs and Os football genius. He will get his props sooner or later.
