Patriots Injury News Carlton Davis in concussion protocol

Generally agree.
But I’m greedy. I’d like to see them draft a candidate to push Gonzo down to CB2. Unrealistic but would give us a lockdown secondary. Realistically I’d love to see a youngster who can step in and fill Davis’s shoes to start, with potential to develop even beyond that in a few years. Even that opposite Gonzo would be a massive cornerstone for the D.
Gonzo is a top 5 corner in the league. The odds of us landing someone that takes the #1 role are slim to none. If by some chance that did happen then we would likely be trading Gonzo in a year anyway.

I know and agree, in fact think you overstated those odds.
Only thing I’d not agree with is trading Gonzo in such a situation. Keep him and we would break the NFL with that passing defense. Thats my real desire.

So you want to draft a player that will come in and be a top 5 corner in the league next year…

Who doesn’t?
I said it was not realistic. lol.

I don’t know if you think less of Gonzalez than most but drafting two top 5 corners within 5 years is unlikely. Even more unlikely when you consider most teams with a top 5 corner aren't going to invest a high draft pick in a blue chip corner. The only way that would realistically happen is you draft a guy in the later rounds who turns out to be a diamond in the rough but then you would likely only have that tandem for a year before you trade Gonzo.

How to say you are unfamiliar with Murano glass without saying you don’t know glass at all.

Murano has been a world class glassmaking center since the days when the Doge imposed a death sentence on any gaffer who tried to abscond with trade secrets. Murano glass is generally recognizable because it is excessively frilly and delicate. I have a few pieces in my art glass collection. They’re really neat.
We had a vase we bought in Murano that someone knocked over during our SB 49 watch party. Still haven't replaced it. I was shopping online for Christmas this year for one and the prices are insane.

Might be cheaper to go back and buy it at the factory?

But, ouch. Thats a loss. At least the game wasn’t a loss.

Did the Butler do it?

You don’t strike me as sufficiently obsessive to be a competitive collector. Whereas growing up near a famous art glass factory channeled those instincts at a very early age.

Swedish glass has its own aesthetic. I like it but don’t collect it. Does your wife know about Hungarian and especially Bohemian glass? They have a long tradition of really nice work, from factories like Moser and Loetz. I only have one piece attributed to Loetz that’s beautiful, one of their Phänomen designs. Recently picked up a nice deco piece that I suspect may be from that part of the world just from style but that’s very inconclusive so no attribution (yet).

“Amusing and colorful” is a good description of Murano glass btw. Well said, as usual.
My parents collected glass, mostly antique Portland. I still have a few boxes of their glass in the basement: very Victorian-looking, weirdly ornate, a lady's hand holding up a big compote dish, acanthus leaves, Greek keys, that sort of thing. They also had quite a bit of Heisey. Is Murano that sort of millefliori (sp?) glass? Paperweights and such?

Michael OnWenu have been our Best Guard if you haven't noticed. Also remember when Rham had those recurring troubles: we wanted him replaced: now he's our Best all purpose RB.
No I get that . But I don't think you will pay top of market money on wrong side of the age . To remain competitive you need to balance it out with studs and value veta and rookies . You can't pay everyone .

Onwenu is paid top tackle money and if he retaruxtures where cap hit is around 12 million why not. I think 20 million is definitely not on and cap hit if 25 million for next year might be too much to swallow if he doesn't restructure.

After next season they can cut him with no dead money so I assume he's back next year and they draft someone to slide into that number two outside corner role to develop. I am right in the middle with Davis. I think he's a capable corner but highly dependent on what type of receiver he is matched up with.
Fair. I would say though at minimum I’d like a better option past Gonzo/Davis/Jones. Austin and Woods aren’t very playable. Hope we target somebody in the mid rounds.

Gonzo is an inigma. He has the most amount of national hype with the least amount of big plays ever.
He may be super good - but he gets very little attention or testing from top 10 WR's
He sure doesn't have elite ball-hawking skills or hands. 3 career INT's.
It'd be fantastic if he could have a signature play this week, or (if they get to) in the SB.
Certainly concerned about Davis, or Woods or Austin this week.
Broncos have a very good top 3 WR - Mims, Sutton, Franklin

I point you to the 2nd half of the Texans game.

**** outta here with this ********, seriously.

He has the most amount of local disrespect because he makes big plays look routine.

He gets little testing from to 10 WRs because they either play away from h8m or don’t get targeted out of respect for him.

His tackling is elite, even when it’s not his man with the ball.

Sure. True for everybody, right?

Not concerned about Gonzo are you? Doesn’t that tell you anyth8ng?

If they all play. We will see how things play out.

Any updates ???
He was in a regular practice jersey today (not the non-contact). Unless there's some crazy incident, he's cleared concussion protocol (will probably be listed as questionable for funsies).

I was going to say the complete opposite. IMO he doesn't get enough attention as a lock down shut down corner. All I hear is Surtain this, Stingley JR that...but nothing about Gonzo.

I bet he hears that ****, they all do. I am starting to have a nagging feeling that the Pats are gonna shove a boot right up the Broncos asses.

Courtland Sutton's going to be in witness protection Sunday.

It amazes me when people say this because over the last few weeks, I've watched Surtain get burned for TDs.

Do people forget that CB1 in all of the NFL was toasted by Boutte last week?

Not only that, but Boutte had actually beat him multiple times, and Diggs too, and Stingley was only saved by non-PI calls.

CBs get burned in the NFL.

Lmao. You say the same thing about Nnamdi Asomugha who only had 15 in this entire career? His prime years were 1, 1, and 0 int.

Pretty hard to have gaudy int stats when you're never thrown to.
