Is Anfernee Jennings a very late Bloomer?? Jennings have played very well the last two games: he looks like a different player. His Pass Rush have been very good.
I was w-w-wrong about Jennings, I wanted him gone for a draft pick.

He's another one who's had a terrific playoffs, and really a very good last month or so of the season. He still can't really pass rush, but man is he trying. This is as good as he's ever played in my opinion.

Honestly I'm fascinated to see how Stidham responds. For Maye and most of the other players on both sides, this is the biggest game of the year and even of their career so far. For Stidham, this game IS his career. In his 6th year with his 3rd team holding a clipboard, he's been handed one shining opportunity to win a starting job somewhere. If he plays like a backup, he'll be one forever.
I’m going to agree that this game is his career, but disagree with you about what it means.

First of all, being a backup NFL QB is a different trade than being a starting NFL QB.

A starting NFL QB is the center of attention all the time. He gets starter reps, a game plan designed with him in mind, all week being prepared to be the key player in the upcoming game.

The backup QB has the job of being ready to step in if disaster occurs and the starting QB goes down, and then to make the best of a bad situation. He’s like a fireman answering the bell, he knows he’s going to have a mess to deal with. And he doesn’t know what he’ll be walking into, just that it will be bad.

The career backup QB has to have a different mindset. You’re right, this game is his career. Stidham is a career backup QB.

So his focus for this game won’t be the opportunity to become a starter if he does well. His focus will be on not letting his teammates down, not making the mess worse by crapping his pants, making the best of the situation. And with that focus, and the mindset of a backup QB, a lot of the psychological factors and pressure outsiders expect to affect him just aren’t in his reality.

He should play like a backup, doing his job. That’s what he is. If he tries to play like something he isn’t, like anything other than what he is, he’ll do poorly. If he just does his job he may not win the game but he’ll do better than most people expect.

Dont care about stats.
Dont care about altitude.
Dont care about Sean Payton. (He cant help them once they on the field)

Whats going to be Stidhams plan?

The ROAD WARRIORS are coming to town!!!!

The Stidham hype train since Tuesday has been out of control. I’m about ready to give him the MVP and he hasn’t played in 2 years. Pats shouldn’t even bother showing up lol.

We have learned well the importance of respect for our opponent. In the end, however, they must play the game.

We should never underestimate them, but they got to earn the respect.

I’m going to disagree with you on this. Stidham likely doesn’t view himself as a career backup. This isn’t 2025 Joe Flacco who’s settled into his role. He thinks he never got his chance - because he never truly did.

Look at it this way, he himself might be too young to know this, but his agent surely does: all it took was one postseason run for Nick Foles, Jeff Hostetler, and Frank Reich to earn starting jobs in the league. Yeah, he doesn’t want to let his teammates down, but he’s definitely thinking that he finally has his big break. That will be weighing on him. How he responds to that is unknown — hyper focused and playing exceptionally well, succumbing to all that pressure, or somewhere in between — but it’s definitely on his mind in some manner.

“Hey Bo, You ever hear of Wally Pipp?”

Let’s hope this isn’t a THING.

Inside of New England fandom it's another chapter in a great book of stories. Outside of NE who gives a rat **** what they think. I'll take duck boats in Feb because we the Akron Pee Wee Champions team accidentally ended up on the playing field and we killed those little bastards (untwist your panties, I'm being darkly ridiculous) over caring what anyone else thinks .
@Triumph - saw you replied but couldn't find it. FWIW, the panties comment wasn't directed at you, more of an in general. Sorry if came across wrong.

Per Even Lazar just now....he was in the locker room and Mack Hollins was wearing pads as if he was going to practice.

But was he wearing his cleats? That’s the true tell!

I was thinking about the way the rest of the football world is obsessed with the Patriots' strength of schedule out of all proportion to how other teams are viewed. To me, that means that they're grasping for an answer to a broader question: "Who the hell ARE these guys? And how are they doing this???"

This is a team coming off a 4-win season that turned over the majority of their roster, coaching staff and front office. They're fielding 14 rookies, including half a dozen 7th-round and UDFA players. Key veterans include castoffs like Tonga and Chaisson and a 32-year-old WR coming off an ACL tear. And if you saw the Patriots early in the season they were still a little lost. So I get why it's tempting to focus on the schedule and dismiss them as frauds.

The thing is, the Patriots may not be as good as their stats...they may be better. Because it took a while to sort out all of those moving pieces and settle in to new schemes, and now they're playing their best team football.
I know how the Pats are winning.

Drake Maye

If you don't have a QB in this league you're basically dead in the water. I surmise that NE could have this exact same team except Mac Jones at QB and we would be discussing free agents, draft and arguing about getting rid of Jones right now. Just like when Bledsoe was a Pat. Brady proved that there was nothing wrong with the team, but there was something wrong at QB.

QB is everything in football, when you have a good or bad QB he effects all areas of the team. Bad QB play gets HCs fired and good QB play buys HCs longevity. Your team is only as good as your QB the same as a business is only as good as its worst employee. Winning teams believe in their QB and losing teams are divided and question their QB. A winning team cannot be divided. This NE team is very much like the 2001 team.

Maye is making the correct decisions and throws when it counts. Vs Houston to Boutte, Diggs and Pop. You can have the best defense in NFL history, but you still have to score points to win. Simplistic, yes, but when you really boil it down, football is a simple game.
