With at least two potential first round RTs in this draft, worthy of a thread of it's own.

Spencer Fano demonstrating how to turn a loss into a win. Initially put on skates, his upper body strength turns this potential loss into a pancake.

Scouting report on Francis Mauigoa

World, Mauigoa and Lomu are really nice mid to late first round options at OT and I want to get a look at Trevor Goosby too. Aside from Fano, this draft isn't top 10 heavy on the OL, but the late first and 2nd round options are really strong.

We need a RT and RG. They might sign a RG in FA with Onwenu's money. We REALLY need a RT. Bryant might be a great swing tackle.

Don't forget center although Bradbury is on a 2 year contract so maybe they can wait a year.

How do we feel about switching a LT to RT if we decide to target that position early? I'm thinking in terms of Isaiah World or Austin Barber in particular. Or do we just draft a ready made RT like Fano (increasingly unlikely), Francis Mauigoa, Blake Miller or Gennings Dunker?

Either or. Dunker is more a G, you think?

Luckily it looks like this upcoming draft is gonna be stocked with good offensive linemen prospects. I'm a Campbell stan and Wilson is looking great so far next to him.

I straight up don't watch college football but I like following it and all the draftniks are high on next year. Maybe we get a center or switch Wilson over there plus a RT

Isaiah World played RT for Nevada in 2022. He looks like more of an RT to me in terms of footwork, and his physical play. Not Spencer Fanu level, but he plays with a nasty streak.

I would be pretty happy with Fanu (probably no chance, even after today), Mauigoa or World at RT. World in the 2nd world be great value - I think he compares well with Aireontae Ersery.

Tough test for the OL today against Pittsburgh. Campbell and Wilson struggled - not surprising, and they will likely grow from it. Onwenu, Bradbury and Moses also struggled, and we probably can't expect much different the next time around.

Im looking at Dunker as a RG. Strong, nasty and smart. He’s a tackle but I think he will be better inside.
Mauigoa Is my first choice as RT but he might go a little to high for us.

Agree with Dunker as RG. 3rd-4th round for me.

Fanu > Mauigoa > World for me at RT.
Have you looked at Blake Miller from Clemson yet? He's more a traditional quick footed pass pro OT rather than the road grader types Mauigoa and Fano are.

Mauigoa so far this season - 2 sacks allowed, 5 pressures

Blake Miller - 0 sacks, 7 pressures

Wake Forest RT Fa'alili Fa'amoe interesting. 3 year starter at Washington St., transferred to WF (his OL coach went with him, picked WF over LSU and Michigan). Originally a 4 star DE recruit st 6'5" 216#, now 6'5# 315# with 34" arms.

I've been doing some PFF grade scouting for mid-round RTs and there are a couple of interesting prospects.

1. Brian Parker II, Duke, 6-5, 305lbs

A little undersized at 305, but he's having an outstanding season at RT. Has a pass blocking grade of 88.2 (3rd highest in CFB) and a run blocking grade of 95.1 (best in CFB). He has only given up 1 career sack and only 23 career pressures. He had the most consecutive sacks in CFB without allowing a sack. His only sack conceded was in '23. I asked AI for a player comp and the first one was Morgan Moses so there's that.

Via AI

"Parker II is very good right now, especially in pass protection. He’s not yet elite in every aspect, but he has strong foundation, physical tools, and proven performance at the college level. With further development against elite edge rushers, better lateral/quickness work, and maintaining technique, he could be draftable in middle rounds with starter potential, or possibly higher."

2. Carter Smith, Indiana, 6-5, 313

The highest graded OT in CFB for pass blocking although he's not as balanced as Parker with an average run blocking grade. Also gets the Morgan Moses comp along with Ryan Ramczyk. 6 career sacks, though never more than 2 in a season.

It's a shame Parker is undersized because he looks a really interesting potential mid-round prospect.
