The Tom Brady rumor thread

I'm not on team "Brady is a bum for not going to OTAs" but I'm guessing you're insinuating it stands for Optional, when in fact it stands for Organized.

Carry on though.

I was definitely insinuating that they're optional. Aren't they?

Tom Brady lists his two demands for free agent suitors,

Brady's two "demands" is that he have control over the roster and wants to be part of the decision making on play calling.

The play calling thing is sort of ridiculous. He has control at the line of scrimmage, and the relationship with with his OCs has always been excellent. I'm sure Josh and BB would be willing to work with him on game preparation and play calling if there is another way he'd like to have more influence.

"Control of the roster" is where I get the hives. Hmm...if he's such a hotshot at building rosters, maybe Brady should retire and become a GM. That isn't gonna happen here, nor would we want such a thing. Roster control involves so many things - cap space, free agency, draft picks, injuries, performance, incentives, etc. I doubt Brady has the time for that as the QB of the NEP.

Brady sounds like someone who is ready to retire and move on to the C-Suite.

I'm doubtful that Mike Mayock is ready to relinquish control of the roster to Brady in Las Vegas.

That link and the "report" that goes with it fit perfectly in this rumor thread. And quoting a portion of the "report" as though Brady said it is very misleading. Personally, I don't believe any of it.

The media is really doing a number on you guys, they have made some of you hate Brady and he barely even said anything out of the ordinary.

We should try and trade for two more *Gillmores.*
These two Gilmores? I’ll take it.

True that some of the leaks are poisoning many of us vs Brady unfairly. The excesses of the pompous Brady Mafia here don't help either. I almost want Brady to leave and fail and Stidham to stay and succeed just to prove them wrong. But that's also unfair to Brady. I believe the best outcome for him and the team is for him to stay until he can no longer play, which will almost certainly happen this year or next and be the result of being unable to recover from injury fast enough. That's what ends the careers of football players.

The “fans” turning on Brady are pathetic.

Belief is he'll break up with us so we'll break up with him first even though we have no clue.

Classic defense mechanism.

Whether any of these rumors align with my narrative or not (see below), I think are bull****. I’ve said this numinous times that Brady is not showing his cards until free agency starts. Nobody knows anything.

Regarding the new rumor of roster control, if true, I saw that a mile away and predicted something similar. I don’t think he wants to play GM, but I think he wants certain players in place before signing - see Kawhi Leonard taking the Clippers hostage. And I think one of these demands will be AB.

Can’t believe anything until we see it.

You let the pretty girl break up with you than act like you didn’t like her that much

I’m afraid that we may have had clues for awhile now, but none of us wish to see them.

Adam Jones likes Brady now so everyone hates him. In a way, it makes a lot of sense. Hopefully, he comes back so I can hear Jones on the night time drive talking about how bad Brady sucks again.

They are, by letter of the CBA, but it’s not what the O stands for. It was a post on technicality, not on merit.

I can't read the full article... but surely this came with the caveat of signing AFTER the dead cap hit is assessed? Because of course the additional 13 million would alter the calculus on all this...
It's unclear to me as well. If he signed the 1 year deal for say, $20m, of the old dead cap hit it would be spread out w/ $6.75m in 2020 and the other $6.75 in 2021.

We don't know of the 1 year deal how much was going to be in 2020 and the remainder, if any, in 2021.
