He reminds me of Faulk but younger not going to be n every down back but on 3rd is great. He is great in the return game hobbs may be a great return guy but most of us are scared of him getting hurt on return.

If you would trade for him what would you trade?

This came about after he made a money sign as he went in for his first TD

Re: Would you trade for Darren Sproles.

I just mentioned him in the draft area on the topic on Key FA's. I would love to have him. I don't know what, or how much, but I'd love to have him.

Re: Would you trade for Darren Sproles.

I bet you could find someone similar in the draft. an undersized all purpose back.

Re: Would you trade for Darren Sproles.

Dave Meggett 2.0 without the sexual assaults

it was great to watch him destroy the Colts last night.

Sproles is special, so I doubt that.

But to get back to the OP's question - no, I wouldn't trade for him because he's an FA, and if SD franchises him, they'll get a lot more than we would/should be willing to cough up.

IT is very important after just watching an offensive minded team go one and Dungy again for us Pats fans to focus on the offense.
Anyway I think he is a FA, no ?

Sporles is a good player that looks better when utilized properly, like a lot of other players. "Special," I wouldn't go that far. You can find a good back in the 3rd Rd area in most drafts.

Sproles is special in that he is a good player who had a great game. Someone said Dae Meggett 2.0, but really Sproles is more Desmond Howard.

The OP has the this-guy-just-had-a-super-game-and-if-we-get-him-we-will-be-all-set syndrome.

I prefer out banging Smith-Dillon-Morris-Jordan stye of running and using guys like Faulk and Maroney as change of pace.

Just because a guy does well in one style of offense does not mean his abilities carry into other offenses. You could spend a lot of money of Sproles and he would help your team about as much as Branch helped the Seahawks.

I wouldn't even chase him with the FA money some undiscerning franchise will toss at him next year.

If you compare the rushing leader-boards for the season, we don't need him. A low drafted RB, a rehabbed LoMo or Law Firm will make the committee approach work just dandy again next year, imo.

Unless a major dropping off in production is expected, I'd rather Faulk in there on 3rd downs.

i think the OP is asking about a replacement for Faulk (eventually)

none of our current committee of hard nosed runners is up to THAT challenge.

that said, i doubt that Sproles will be a good value as a FA, but who knows? ask the Whiza! (SP)

Agreed.

Call me a homer, but while watching Green-Ellis play, I was thinking that he could be the next all purpose, Faulk type back for this team in the future.

But to answer the question; no, I personally wouldn't like to see a trade for Sproles.

I'd agree with this. Maybe on someone's bench now. Undersized overachieving backs can be found cheaply, though it doesn't mean they'll be stars.

Huge athletic DL, not so much. There's reasons teams draft as they do.

I like his attitude, especially last night. He made a mistake and come out fighting making sure he rectified it, and he did. I'm not saying he's great just yet, but he doesn't f*ck about when running the ball and I like that. Sproles is an effective back.

I hope we see more of BGE though as far as the pats are concerned, I like him and looking at our backs currently, I don't really see any moves for backs as priority yet.

i think it is obvious that sproles is a guy you want on your team. i agree with jsn though, that it is probably going to cost way more than we are willing to give up. i actually like our RBs right now.

faulks like 33 so were gonna need a replacement sooner rather than later.

Love the guy but you can bet after this season he is going to get PAID by somebody. With all the RBs we have it's not going to be worth trying to outbid everyone for him.

I'd love to have Sproles, but I'm not sure what Trade I'd make to get him. I wouldn't want to do anything to strengthen the Chargers or any AFC team. Getting to Miami in 2010 is going to be hard enough anyway.

WE NEED TO IMPROVE OUR DEFENSE. I would prefer to use our picks to improve that area of our team. Some insurance on our OL wouldn't hurt either. So no, I wouldn't trade picks with the Chargers for Sproles, but if they are willing to part with one of their DBs I would go for that. :D

You bet your ass I would sign him and I have been wanting to sign him for the past year now. He would be absolutely epic in this offense. However, with that said, I think most of our attention and money should go to the defense this offseason and worry about offensive free agents next year. That's clearly where I weakness is and it needs to be fixed.
