Officialy got under way this past weekend. Excellent start for Chelsea, torn Portsmouth a new one from start to finish. Deco was excellent. Arsenal were decent but should have had more than the one goal, United had a patched up team and were frustrated by Newcastle. Newcastle should have had a penalty aswell but once again the ref doesn't have the balls to give one at United, in particular one of their fans Mike Riley. We were poor but still ground out a result. Keane needs to settle down and it will come but he's never a 20 million pound player. Can't wait till Mascherano and Babel come back.

Watched Man.U v Newc.U yesterday. Very poor game.
From the games played involving the 4 top teams, Chelski are looking good.:(

Agreed on all counts. Looking forwards to us having a full season with the 4-2-3-1. I think Babel's going to be a huge threat this year, and we should look quick, inventive and unpredictable in the final 3rd, which is what we need to be to try and mount a title challenge.

I just hope Rafa sticks to that system because I have a feeling he wont. In that system would Keane go wide right or Gerrard, or will Kuyt go there with Keane behind Torres and Stevie getting a cob on being pushed to a more central holding role since Alonso is suddenly in the dog house. Then you have to ask why change a partnership that flourished last season in Gerrard behind Torres. I just hope it's same system and Keane replaces Kuyt as the wide forward on the right.

Concrete talk of Riera coming in now too or possibly Downing which doesn't impress me.

I think Rafa decided that he couldn't base a whole season on the hope that Torres would stay healthy and repeat last year's record. Keane gives him more options. As for the price tag, granted I am an Ireland fan but the fact is that strikers are ridiculously expensive these days. Andy JOhnson cost £12m, Jo cost £19m and Ronaldinho who has been rubbish for 2 years (trust me, I'm a Barca fan) still cost Milan real money. I think I finally understand my father's generation who couldn't believe it when Trevor Francis cost £1m!

Best battle in the Premiership this year will be the fight for places 4-7; Liverpool, Arsenal, Villa, Spurs in any order you like. I think Chelsea have the edge over Man U but both are well ahead of the rest unfortunately.

I think that puts Keane up there with Anelka doesn't it, the total amount spent on him during his career. Not as much but he's up there. It's not that I don't rate Keane, I think he's a very good player but for a club like Liverpool who so badly needs that help and bit extra going forward IMO that 20 million could have gone to a wide man for this right hand side to get that balance. Babels not an out and out striker so he's perfect drifting in from the left in the 4-2-3-1 or a 4-3-3 and I would have loved us to make a cheeky bid for Ashley Young who could be a carbon copy for the right.

...........................Torres...........................

Babel....................Gerrard...................Young

That three behind Torres would cause havoc switching flanks and Stevie floating about. N'Gog has just come in who I'm told is very highly rated by the management and I still believe Kuyt will put more away than he'll miss given service. Creativity has been Liverpools problem for years, not strikers.

A lovely dream but, given that O'Neill has locked Gareth Barry in his room rather than let him join you, I can't see him giving you Ashley Young too. You would still have the problem that if Torres got crocked some rainy afternoon in Blackburn, all the goals would vanish. Actually i think Torres is the first top class striker I've seen at Liverpool since Owen. I agree that some width and creativity would make sense but buy them instead of Barry.

It was nice to see Newcastle bump off Man U. Liverpool's my team and I'm thinking about getting a Torres jersey, though I'm not a big fan of the Gray and 45 quid is so steep (100 bucks).

On a related note, I went to visit my parents in London last week and for my Dad's birthday we took a tour around the new Wembley. It was a really impressive experience and we got really good access to the locker rooms and stuff, though because it's a neutral ground the locker rooms are kind of weak. I highly recommend anyone do it if they're ever in London, it's definitely worth the 15 quid. We got to go in the queens suite and see the replica FA cup.

Yeah, what I'm saying. Keane and Barry. It's another area that isn't a concern when it comes to Barry. Liverpool has one of the best spines in world football so why want to spend, again, a hell of alot of money on a player that we're not in dire need of. We had the money this summer so that idea of Young could have been reality but unfortunately for me and quite a few reds Rafas got other ideas.

I think any club who lost their star striker would see their goals drop, it's part of football and your not going to bring in the likes of David Villa just to sit on the bench just incase. Kuyt's here and N'Gog who are good enough to fill some of the gap should Torres go down so it's not really a massive problem for us as both are capable of scoring. Don't get me wrong they're not Fernando Torres, who is? but we have strikers. Having watched alot of reserve football I'd be interested in watching young Nemeth too. United and Arsenal have massive concerns in that depertment.

Theres a site called www.sportsdirect.com and they're £36 without the name and number. That shop is one of the cheapest around in for replica stuff so you'd be pretty lucky to find any cheaper really.

I know how you feel though, just on £40 is terrible for shirts.

Great! Thank you.

From the 2nd round of fixtures.
Wins for Chelski, Liverpool, and ManYoo. Arsenal lost.
Chelski and Liverpool sitting proudly top of the league, with ManYoo just behind.
Deco looking good for the Londoners. Stevie G saves the Scousers. Arsenal going backwards. The Greatest Team In the World EVER !!, got a good result away to Pompey, but are missing Ronaldo.

In Scotland, :D, Celtic regain top position after 3 games played. :D

ManU weren't playing this w'end. There was a win for Arsenal, and draws for Liverpool and Chelsea, which leaves these 3 teams occupying the top places in the league.
In Scotland, Celtic are humbled 2-4 by their most bitterest rivals. A horror show from the hoops!!

Surprised at the result, I thought Rangers were in a bit of trouble.

They are, and we should have put our boots on their throat. Instead of balancing our books, only £3 million in debt, we should've spent some CL money and strengthened our team. No use having money in the bank if we are getting beat on the park FFS!! If we had done that and gone onto win the league this year, we would've put them in very serious trouble. We're a very poor team. God help us when we face The Glazier Family FC, :( , Sir Furious is still raging about getting beat 2 years ago. Berbatov, Ronaldo, Rooney and Tevez against possibly one of the worst defences I've ever saw at Celtic Park. It could be a real horror show.
Thank God the NFL is finally starting. :D
