Re: Pft:belichick Interview On Cbs Should Raise Eyebrows

Maybe someone should inform Florio that that is how it works in the BUSINESS world.

It's not as if Belichick was an ELECTED official entrusted with PUBLIC office who carried out his duties in a way that was geared only towards his highest contributors........oooops!

here you go. there is no escape. All of us liked florio until now but this is just disgusting. trying to explain why BB gave an interview to CBS as supposed to ESPN ?
I don't know,it crossed my mind earlier that CBS has its new facility at Gillette. And that could be the reason why CBS got the interview. Sort of throwing a bone to the new partner so to speak.

I don't really have a problem with Florio raising an eyebrow to this.

For all the great stuff he's posted during this SpyGate era, I'll let this slide. Really, the guy has been nothing but great for the last few months.

I honestly believe he tries to be as objective as possible so I’ll respect his suspicions.

Re: Pft:belichick Interview On Cbs Should Raise Eyebrows

........and Jerry Jones does commercials for Pepsi, his beverage supplier at Cowboy Stadium and the new Cowboy stadium.

So?

These people are not publicly elected officials paid by our tax dollars. They can shill any product or network they want.

What doesn't Florio understand about that?

Re: Pft:belichick Interview On Cbs Should Raise Eyebrows

Oh, who cares. Everyone is so screwed up about this. Here in DC, the Redskins radio hosts were convinced that BB was going to be put through the wringer by this interview. They have NO clue.

Re: Pft:belichick Interview On Cbs Should Raise Eyebrows

i thought the post was fair enough. he doesn't say that bb shouldn't have done the interview, he doesn't say that the interview was dishonest or misleading, he just says that there's a business relationship that should be disclosed. that kind of thing is routine and i don't see the problem.

I agree. Not a big deal. I don't think the interviewer showed any bias at all. But it wasn't long enough to really form a strong opinion there.

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

I loved the part where BB pointed out how absurd it is to think that the 3rd-string video guy who was later fired for poor job performance was supposedly giving football advice to an assistant coach.

Think about that one for a moment. Here's an analogy.

It would be like the night janitor in a brokerage firm claiming that he provided stock tips to the CEO, just before he got fired for proving to be incapable of adequately cleaning the toilets;

or maybe a guy washing dishes at the MIT food court bragging about helping out the MIT physics profs with their understanding of quantum theory, before being fired for not washing his hands after going to the john.

Just the thought of Walsh's claim kind of seems silly on it's own merits. The bottom video guy was an entry level grunt work barely-pays-the-bills job, probably paying less than the Gillette hot dog vendors. This guy Walsh has some serious delusions.

Hey, he's not talking about spygate. Directly, at least. I'll take that.

And Florio is clearly just speculating here. No big deal because there are no consequences other than raised eyebrows.

Didn't Kraft and CBS reach some sort of agreement months ago...not a partnership but something to do with giving CBS rights to publicity or You're right about the new restaurant, but I think it's more than just that. The announcement had come prior to the new restaurant's opening, I think.

Re: Pft:belichick Interview On Cbs Should Raise Eyebrows

I understand. Florio is fine in my book by mentioning the "synergy". That's what it is. Kraft and CBS are in business together. Business partners do that.

The wording of "raising eyebrows" is off, however. Linguistically, that clearly connotes impropriety. They are not publicly elected, taxpayer funded officials.

"Raising eyebrows" WOULD be linguistically appropriate, however, for Senator Specter's Comcast Connection.

Specter fell for it. Just shows how pathetic ignorance can be.

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

I realize you want to like Mangini, but there's really not a lot to like.

This was obviously a sting set up in the offseason. Mangini and Tannenbaum are tied at the hip.

They are young guys who were making a power play against the old man. Think of it like the Turk deciding to take out the Godfather in GF Part I.

They were going for the kill. They leaked the tape to the press hoping league pressure and media furor would force Kraft to fire BB.

Problem: Don Vito Corleone survived the hit.

Footnote: When Don Vito makes his reconciliation with Tartaglia at the "board meeting", and the mob war is "ended", he realizes Barzini was in on it all along.

Read: Goodell.

Conclusion: Draw your own.

Pretty funny but I think of mangini as fredo

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

Ok. I'm not trying to get Bill out of the crap sandwich that he put himself into, and I'm not trying to make excuses for him.

It's simple - Mangini does not tell people what to look for, this never happens. Simple. End of story. Mangini started it.

Would another team bust the Patriots for this down the road? Probably. But that's not what happened. It started with the Jets game...1st Qtr. of the game - There is no coincidence there.

Eric the Rat caused this entire situation. Here's how this should really be placed into perspective. Romeo Crennell would never, ever, ever do this to the guy that helped him get his financial security and head coaching position, that guy being his mentor, BB. If it were up to Romeo and he was about to play the Pats, Romeo would have simply told and warned BB to not have the camera on the field prior to the game or he would have done something to mix up the defensive signals knowing it would throw the Pats off. Eric is a different story, he didn't appreciate anything that BB did to advance his career and really give him his financial meal ticket to a great career as an NFL head coach. Nope, this guy spit in BB's face, that was the thanks BB got for taking this absolute coffee-fetching nobody and giving him the only chance he ever had. Eric the Rat is pushing a pencil in some corporate office right now making 85K a year if it were not for BB and the mentoring he game him and the opportunity he gave him. With friends like Eric......you know the rest.

That would be like Roger Goodell appearing on NFL Network!

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

What tape are you refering to that got leaked, the ones that the Pats gave to goodell or the one that eventualy was confiscated by NFL security during game 1?
WHat I find interesting is that Goodell admitted that the only tape he personally watched out of the first batch was the Jets game and that is the one that mysteriously wound up in the hands of Jay Glazer...on a network Goodell's wife is affiliated with...and the leak was never investigated or if it was the result was never publicly revealed.

I also think it is interesting that Belichick chose to say that Walsh was fired for not performing his job well instead of for taping conversations with Pioli as I believe they had initially said in a public statement.

As third string video guy, Matt Walsh was the go-to man for Crennell, Weiss, and Belichick. At least he was until he was fired for incompetence.

He got on his feet, though, as backup night janitor at Smith Barney. He claims to have given out key stock tips to all the executives, until he was fired for refusing to use detergeants when cleaning the johns.

Amazing the impact this guy has.

I'm sure when he was in Washington to see Specter, other members of Congress pulled him aside for advice on foreign policy and global economics.

at least, in his own mind, it seemed just that way

Re: Belichick interview with Armen Keteyian on CBS News tonight

Has it been mentioned yet that Belichick seemed to say that he had given a tape to CBS showing Walsh filming? Did I misunderstand that part of the interview. It sounded like BB had footage of Matt taping showing that it was obvious and out in the open in Patriot's gear. If they did have this, why didn't they show it??? Wouldn't a tape like this give credence to the idea that BB thought what he was doing was ok? Maybe someone can help me out, am I missing something?

nothing like that. BB was refering to the tape seen by all on tuesday

Re: HOT: Belichick to address the Nation tonight!

Yes!, should balance it out somewhat, keteyian is a good journalist

Really?

...when the rule was clarified by the league in September of 2006 outlawing videotaping of any type during a game...

Any type? Does the Ketyian think there is no videotaping of any type?
Probably. Because he doesn't know anything.

Once again, the media takes the ignorance is bliss route.
