Re: Latest on Moss from Clayton...

Who are you kidding? You started to worry when you were still a zygote.

You know why do you have to be such a nimbus.. Im sorry im not a full time homer like yourself.. Oh wait I forgot we had such a great last month , that I should be happy that a guy that helped us score 23 td's might be walking out the door, along with our best CB.. Sorry I cant enjoy your enthusiasm:mad:

Re: Latest on Moss from Clayton...

Yeah, I'll bet it bothers you as much as it did when they cut Lawyer Milloy.

Will you guys freaking chill?

Every year we lose about a quarter to a third of our team, just like every other team in the NFL.

There are about 7-8 players on hte team who were here for SB XXXVI.

Turnover is the name of the game.

Chill out.

Well gee who are you going to replace on a 18-1 team.. a guy that has had 23 td's , a guy that has 16 ints in the last 2 yrs, plus role players like Gay ,Stallworth, Colvin, and Gaffney.. If you think all those guys are replaceable, and we could still win the super bowl good luck.. Again that is why last yr was important.. we win while we can... you will never know when we could get back there... We are not talking just one playmaker here.. Milloy was a 1 game distraction, if we are not careful, we could be a 2008 distraction...

I don't understand why people take Clayton seriously. This morning the Pats-Moss was a done deal. Now it's not. Whatever, the guy is a moron and I'm not going to pay attention to his antics.

When Shefter says it, I get nervous... Not Clayton..

And people call Red Sox fans neurotic.

Not to anyone in particular, but shouldn't we all get a life?

Like fine wine, good cigars etc., closely following your favorite sports team is one of the pleasures of life. No reason to feel like a dweeb.

There is when you panic on day 1 of free agency.

The Moss-less 2006 Patriots offense couldn't run the ball in the 4th quarter of the 2006 AFCCG and turned the ball over to Peyton Manning with too much time on the clock. THAT's why they lost that game.

The Moss led Pats offense couldn't keep Brady upright and allow them to control the tempo of the game and couldn't score like they were used to doing. The coaching staff, for whatever reason, decided that running time off the clock wasn't important and that giving the ball back to Eli with 2:39 seconds, 3 time outs and the 2 minute warning was a better option.

You are avoiding the 2 for 2 fact: With the lead, the Pats defense, not the lack of a time-off-the-clock offense, which allowed both teams to march down nearly the entire length of the field, without a hitch, to break the hearts of the earnest Patriots. To back that up further: it was the offense (Brady) that bailed out the late-in-the-game pourous Pats defensive backfield, in all three (3) winning Super Bowls (TD passes in last 3 minutes against defensive backs in all 3 games).

It feels like this whole thing today played out thru Clayton. The Pats know how much Randy wants to stay so they see how little they can get away with paying him. Moss doesn't like what they offer. Has the agent plant a call to the agent saying Moss could be open to talking to other teams to force the Pats up a bit. The more I think about it the more I am feeling confident he'll be back.

I really can't imagine Moss wants to go somewhere like the Jets, where Chad Pennington can't even throw the ball 40 yards. He's just seeing how much he can get and then he'll sign. It's the guys last contract, he has to at least try to get as much as he can.

The bigger question if Moss leaves is how much longer Brady is gonna take this crap. Every time he has a receiver that he adamantly wants on the team, the pats let them leave.

If we lose Moss, then I'll be pushing to send the #1 to Cincy for Chad Johnson.

I know we need a lot of defensive help, but I just have so much more faith in the D than an offense without Moss.

A rookie 1st round LB or CB is not going to make a bigger difference than a guy like Chad Johnson.

That being said, I'd rather have Moss and the rookie.

That is the bigger question than losing moss.. Brady will be more than pissed... Sign Moss and Gaffney and focus on the d...

That's the real problem here. Brady is losing any reason to trust the FO to have his interests in mind and if they don't start to do so in earnest, it's going to disrupt his leadership of the team and make him less agreeable in negotiations.

Brady is worth a lot more money than they're paying him and he takes those pay cuts in exchange for the chance to bring in better talent. If the FO betrays his trust again by ditching talent that works well with him and he adamantly wants to keep, he's going to work to secure a contract from the highest bidder and say to hell with the Patriots.

Honestly. When time expired in the SB and the Giants became Champs. I envisioned everything that has been happening this off season. If Moss doesn't come back I won't be suprised. It will just be another thing I envisioned. Moss took the Pay cut for a SB ring. He came back strong this year just like he wanted to do. Play great and then get the huge contract the following year. The only thing missing for Moss is the Ring. The Ring doesn't matter that much to him if he can get a huge contract and play for a contender like the Cowboys next year. If Moss comes back I will be stunned. If you asked me his chances of coming back I would say it's like a 20% chance. I don't think the Pats would of risked him becoming a free agent if they really were going to sign him. He's gone.

I hope your saying that when CJ Jones could be our number 3 wr, and tom brady feels like crap again ..
Fer cryin' out loud. If you need to play Eyore, at least try to be a little realistic.

It is February, and already you are saying that next SEPTEMBER it is likely we won't have more than 2 WRs better than CJ Jones.

You must be a lot of fun at parties.

Oh, please.... you whine about everything, as the game threads of a 16-0 regular season can attest to. You're the kind of person who would hit a $300 million jackpot and then spend the next 20 years of your life complaining about the taxes you had to pay on it.

Losing Moss would be a big mistake. Some have argued that this is similar to the Branch situation a few years ago. Some have said losing Branch was no big deal and the Patriots are fine without Branch and they will be without Moss. I have faith in BB, but he and FO can't keep sending key players away. The Brady to Moss connection led to NFL records this year, and this was just their first year together.

Although I have always liked the Defense wins championships philosophy, It is not possible to revamp the defense in just one year. Especially since the free agency is a bit weak this year. I think keeping Moss would be the best move they can make.
