Replaced by Jim Caldwell.

Bye bye Tony. Too bad we let you get one.

While I have nothing but dislike for St. Dungy, the league is losing one of its better coaches.

I really can't think of much else nice to say.

Good for Dungy. Hey he got his championship, and he leaves the next coach with a really good team.

well gee, now whos the ugliest coach in football?

Can we get a link or confirmation? I want to start wooping it up and spreading the word.

Where the heck is Keegs? He'll be so happy.

Maybe Jon Gruden will take over and win the Super Bowl.

(That joke would have been awesome if it was last year)

I get the joke - but regardless of last year, there is nothing awesome about the Colts winning the Super Bowl.

1998-2001 (Manning without Dungy)
Winning % .500
Division Championships 1
Playoff Appearances 2
Post-Season Wins: 0

2002-2007 (Manning with Dungy)
Winning % .760
Divison Championships 5
Playoff Appearances 6
Post-Season Wins 7

As I’ve beeing saying, the downward spiral for the Colts begins. Tony's a great coach and this a huge loss.

This hurts them a lot.

Why? Because Caldwell is Cam Cameron reincarnated. Horrible college coach takes the reins of a NFL team after stint at coordinator.

If they hired, let's say, Jason Garrett, then that would be a big step up from Dungy.

If true I think it's a mixed bag for us and/or them. Dungy did more to make that collection of offensive talent and guys on D a team than I think any other HC could have. He gradually shifted the focus from overwhelming offense to team performance while building a pretty good inexpensive cover 2 D. Of course that D may be expensive to maintain going forward and that could impact the offense. Or Polian could go hog wild to recharge his O. And absent the conservative approach of quiet strength...Manning may revert to form, as he did a little against SD. Dungy was a buffer between lots of factions on that team that could get under each others skins. His downfall was really the ultra conservative rest/rust thing. Sometimes intensity and a little channeled agression is what your team needs. Not brain numbing cumbayah.

Team could implode, come together to support succession, or just continue to do what they do.

The only reason that the Colts competed was due to Dungy's work on defense. Whatever he did fixed the problem, at least for the short run and that resulted in a championship. He did not have anything to do with the offense, where he is deficient (Tampa Bay). Now, the new head coach will have to again correct what ails that defense and I'm thinking not too many coaches are on his level.

Damn. I think this helps the Colts, not hurt them.

I don't think it matters either way. The quarterhick runs that team. Literally.

Dungy's decision will not be announced until this weekend so that is speculation.

In the minority kinda like what Dungy did for the team and Manning, tough to minimize how he made things work there.. there were some bonehead things done there, but no more or less than most coaches.. except of course BB.

Like Colin Cowherd said in yesterdays radio show...

Dungy is a class B coach,Has been and always will be

Tampa Bay fired his as- and with Gruden in as coach they won the SB the next season

Dungy has been a coach of a future HOF QB for the last several years and that always helps your quest for a title which they won.
