LT gets injured and comes out of the game...yet stands on his feet the entire 2nd half.
Rivers hobbles off the field and limps into the locker room only to return JOGGING back to the bench.

I'm not a paranoid guy...but I've seen people watching me (I swear!) lately and something sure is strange.

Lets just imagine for a moment that Rivers & LT both start and play as if they were never hurt this Sunday. Could it be we've been set up? Seriously, do you think it's possible? I kept thinking the entire second half, "why is LT standing on the sidelines in the most important game of his life? he couldn't have been hurt that bad if he says he's gonna practice this week. I mean this is the same guy who has LIVED for this moment, and yet he never returned.

Rivers??....didn't you guys think SD would call a time-out and he'd come jogging back onto the field once he returned? And how did a guy who hasn't played a snap drive all the way down the field as if he did it every week and there was no one in his way to stop him?

If Rivers & LT play healthy this Sunday, I'm going to hire a team of investigators to look into this fix! I swear I will!

just kidding!

You can bet that Mr. Novocaine will be paying both a visit before kickoff.

when you are as classy as those two fellows, you don't play once you start to feel an ounce of pain. that would be cheating your body, which is something that if new england isnt doning, "they arent trying":bricks:

I can't imagine you would sit out a game vs an opponent like the Colts in order to surprise New England...when it is likely you would lose the game and never get the chance to play the Patriots.

I think if its any one else on the Chargers, they might have been put back in the game. But you can't risk putting your starting QB and RB for years to come in danger of getting really seriously injured. I don't know what the deal with Rivers was. He walked or jogged without a hint of a limp and was smiling at the crowd.....But I distinctly recall reading LT's lips when he was on the sidelines and he was telling a coach he "felt a pop".

Nah, Volek and Turner having the success they did is something that only happens in hindsight. The Chargers wouldn't have thrown less than 100% at the Colts.

Novocaine numbs pain. It doesn't make an injured body part work. If ligaments are involved, the knees won't work whether they are numb or not.

As to being set up, pretty funny...Belichick isn't duped that easily.

I personally don't think the Chargers chances are any better or worse whether those guys play or not. Turner and Volec can serve more than adequately. They will miss Gates but Chambers is again..more than adequate.

Mike Turner is a better running back than an injured LT. Volek was having an impressive drive so Rivers was not going to go back in there and ruin what was going on.

Oh my, this just in! Rivers and LT are officially OUT! Quickly everyone tell the Pats and have them gameplan for Volek and Turner!

eh, it's worth a try.

Yes the Chargers risked a loss by taking out their starting QB and RB in order to "fake out" the Patriots. Who they wouldn't even play because they'd most likely lose the game.

Is there anyone around who could give you a good hard kick in the ass? I think it would help you.

I agree. I think Volek and Turner are as capable as LT and Rivers. Cromartie is scary good, and Chambers and Jackson perform admirably enough to take the sting out of an injured Antonio Gates.

Belichick will cover all the bases. I think the biggest down for the Chargers is the fatigue factor as a result of the airplane rides, the tough game in Indy, the limited time to prepare for Sunday, playing in cold Foxboro and facing a well-rested, well-prepared, healthy home team.

All things being equal, and the creek don't rise, mistakes will cost the Patriots a victory if they are to lose. The Chargers aren't the better team, and that is no putdown. The records and the performances speak for themselves.

Oh, and DoJo, tell all my friends at chargers.com that Sam Adams, BarFly, and Boltup all send regards.

those guys are just as effective on the sidelines --- let me know if they get a sprained jaw, then their games will really take a hit.

get to the doctor immediately before the aliens come and get you

They already got me, put me on their ship, did all sorts of tests on me and let me go.

I even saw Elvis & Big Foot in the mother ship.

Please the Patriots ran it up big time on teams. The Chargers easilly could have put up 60 points on teams over the last several years with leads of 42 and 35 at halftime on teams. 42 point 2nd halves against playoff caliber teams like the Bengals once were. or are? Both teams are damn good and the Chargers are ALOT closer to the patriots than pats fans think and some would argue position for position better than the patriots. And its not just the starter the chargers have pro bowl level backups in Kassim Osgood. Michael Turner and Darren Sproles are both lethal RBs. Gates and Manumaleuna can both catch and manu a better blocker often making the running lanes more clear and is highly effective on screen passes. Defensively The chargers throw 3 SOLID Corners and hard hitting safeties all of whom have played very well within the scheme and have forced turnovers and made big plays.

It's strange how things change in a year. Last year I was on the Chargers board and so many were saying how much better the Chargers were man-for-man & how many pro-bowl players you had. I think you'll now agree that "Team play" is as important as talent. And there is nothing more important to team play than having leadership.

If you want to compare the leaders on each team, the Chargers can't compete. We know talent is fairly even, but it wasn't last year and who won? It's all about leadership & unselfishness. I know where my money is.

Fellers,

Actually, I was thinking that Rivers wasn't injured, but that he did something to mess up the brace he was wearing on the other knee. They took it off when he went to the sideline, and he was moving fairly well when he went into the tunnel. The guy beside him and escorting him, IIRC, was carrying the brace as well.

I suspect they found they couldn't repair the brace adequately to protect his knee and decided to sit him rather than risk further injury to it without proper bracing and protection.

Anyway, that's my take on it.
