Ben Brown and Erick Hunter Signed to the 53

Yeah. Because Patspulpit is a better source than the Patriots themselves.... *SMH*
Pats pulpit is usually accurate. Everyone makes mistakes. I apologize for this most harmful infraction Sir da pontificator please don't shake your head at me

Can anyone explain why the team didn't have to eat the dead cap when they cut Ben Brown?

not familiar with his deal... but i would hazard a guess that there were no guaranteed dollars left on the extension he signed

Right next year they get out with minimal damage, but this year not very friendly.

EDIT Sorry I thought I responding to you in the thread you started about Landry. Sorry/

Good article on Erick Hunter here. He sounds like a coaches dream. I'm rooting for this one.

Some highlights:

"He didn’t move to defense until getting to college, meaning he’s played linebacker for only four seasons."

"Wilson said he knew Hunter was destined to play professional football during his redshirt season in 2024 after a shoulder injury. Although unable to play, Hunter dressed for every game, participated in warm-up drills, and coached younger players from the sideline — displays of leadership that Wilson knew would serve the linebacker well. As he redshirted, Hunter sat in on defensive coaches’ meetings and in the booth during games."

"Returning to Morgan State for his graduate senior season, Hunter often stayed late enough that he was the last player in the building, sometimes locking up the facility for director of football operations Gerald Huggins."

"“He would come visit [me in my office], and he would just be up in there till it’s dark outside and watching film. And then we just would talk about what scouts are looking for and other linebackers that they’re comparing them against. He just was so determined and cared so much. You just got to root for a kid like that.”

“You can rank his athleticism with other linebackers in the NFL. He’s right up there,” Huggins said. “If you want to go pound for pound, number for number, his athleticism and the ability to process information, understand and learn and study like a pro, it was night and day.”

lol its all good

Ben Brown was re-signed today. He's on the 53. If he's not healthy, they'll likely call up Rizy with a game day elevation.. But it's going to be interesting since the Pats have 10 OL (5 OTs) not including Bryant. Unless they have Crownover slated to move to Guard.
I'm glad Brown is back, in part because I've yet to see if Wilson is better at C than he was at LG

But the fact that they'd even cut Brown suggests to me that they like what they see of Wilson - and perhaps the Brown move was to clear space for a guy off of waivers or trade that didn't come to be. Brown may not be the best on the OL but he's depth that we need and I have no problem having 10 OL on the 53 man squad (though I'd have gone with just 2 QBs to make room for them.)

A lot of MLBs on the roster:

53 man roster:
- Spillane
- Elliss
- Obiazor
- Muasau
- Hunter

Practice squad:
- Britt

IR-DTR:
- Jacobs
If this truly is A LOT OF MLB, I’m loving it.

I was somewhat skeptical of Spillane last season, …… now he is one year older.
I love Spillane the GUY, the LEADER, the ONFIELD COACH/GENERAL. But in the limited film in which I watched him closely, I didn’t see physicality or any presence intimidating an opponent. On half the plays he seemed to be away from the ball / right hole. Freely admit, I don’t know enough to diagnose from entertainment video whether he is scheme correct when not near ball carrier. But, all that just gives me the feeling…we could do better.
Then as everyone to include Vrabes says., our depth sucks.

So all in all more potential MLB to choose from when the injury comes, someone is tired, or a prospect grows up ain’t a bad thing.

Hopefully at least one of those LB pan out cause right now depth is razor thin.

When it comes to announcements of team moves, thinking that some place is more accurate than a Patriots Media Announcement is a fallacy on your part.

No one was pontificating, you idjit. But great job showing everyone the kind of clown you are,.

You got issues man. Even when people are trying to be chill you cant help yourself
Your either a fairly intelligent but really immature teenager or you have a serious attitude problem and society has protected you from getting punched in the face

Pats ate 426K in dead cap with Brown.

So why would they do this?

To protect Woods or Morton from going through waivers???

I don't get the move.

Anyone?

I think they had to keep Baringer and Jacobs on the roster before they IR’ed them and allow room for the waiver claims. Then spots opened up after the IR

I get that, but eating close to a half million cap was the best route?

And didn't they leave a second pre-season IR spot (along with Bryant) wasted.

Half a million dollars to keep the guys they wanted and have a handshake deal in place to bring him back was worth it to them to have the roster they wanted. Other guys could have gotten claimed or gone elsewhere. Brown wasn’t subject to waivers and had a strong enough relationship to set this up.

So yes, to the Patriots brain trust it was worth it.

You're the one with issues. You're decided to be a complete ass with your responses. You should probably STFU with your stupidity of threats. I'd treat you like the f'in clown you are if I ran into you running your mouth the way you are here. If you threw a punch, you'd regret it for the rest of your life.

No idea. It will be even more perplexing if Brown doesn't dress for the 1st three games of the season.
