So with the practice squad starting to form today at noon what's your predictions. Who makes it from the Pats training camp and who/position comes on board from another team. I really like Dixon and DeGennaro but being stacked at WR I only think one of them make it to the PS, so I think I'm going with Dixon. I also think we snag a DE or DT from another team just not sure who. What say you?

Edit...I also think Jam Miller makes it to the PS.

Some of the releases were reported that there’s interest in bringing them back to the PS. Off the top of my head, Larson, Ritzy, and Muma were among those.

Boy I was surprised by the RB switcheroo. Kiner may be better than Larison & Miller, but adding at this late stage, knowing that pass-pro is a huge part of a 3rd down back - that's risky IMO. There's a lot to pick up in this offense that Hendo isn't even good at yet. So, they're passing on the experience of Larison having 2 offseasons in this system for a new guy who hasn't done much more in the NFL than him.
I really hope they can stash Larison on PS - I think he'll be called on at some point this year. Especially if Hendo gets hurt.
Same for Miller.

IMO, Pats need a FB2 considering that they have new offensive plays designed using a FB that would be useless if Gilliam goes down.

let Muma go. I was a supporter from the end of last year but he was zero against backups in preseason.

Why do people keep referring to Kiner as a 3rd down back?
He’s a 1st/2nd down, short yardage thumper.
Will he have to pick up the odd blitz, sure, but he isn’t a 3rd down back.

The thing with Dixon and DeGenaro is they turn 26 during the season. I like practice squadders leaning more to 2 categories:

- Raw talent aged 23 and under, true developmental players.
- Older jags you can call up to help in a pinch, rather than raw projects.

Dixon and DeGenaro are still raw at an age most good players are getting their second contract.

Yeah the NCAA/COVID years created a very strange market dynamic. NCAA is loudly screwing up the NFL pipeline they have enjoyed for decades.

NIL is making it so middle-late round guys stay in college and make more than they will as a bottom of the roster NFL guy.

Exactly. $1.5MM in college vs min PS salary isn’t difficult math for a kid.

Hope we move on from Big for nothing charming soft C.J. Dippre.

Agree. Kiner is only our 3rd RB on roster. He will get limited snaps unless of injury to Rham or Trevyon
Right, he isn't the standard skill set of a "3rd Down Back", but does look to be the 3rd option behind those 2.
Although, I'm legitimately concerned for Hendo turning into a complete NFL back. He was straight pitiful running between the tackles, and didn't even provide much in the pass game last year. It was a few lightning-strike plays. I hope he can deepen his versatility this year, or it may be Kiner moving into RB2, with Hendo as a 3rd Down passing/speed threat.
I have a sneaky suspicion that we haven't seen the last of Larison either.

We Kiner runs Bigger than his 5'9 size and he can catch some. What's not to like??
