PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp - Day 12

Malcolm Butler and Jamie Collins became distractions once the season began. Wait until he isn’t getting enough snaps or targets in a contract season. I think he’ll be gone before that.
He may very well be.
I’ve never argued he wouldn’t be traded, my argument has always been I don’t think the trade compensation would be worth trading him, he makes us better in 2026.
Obv if he is traded the front office would feel comfortable in the other WRs on the roster.
At the end of the day their job is what’s best for the team, not what’s best for Boutte.

Something vs nothing… what is better trade compensation?

You can’t rely on the NFL’s compensatory formula for fair value, it seems to be an arbitrary system based on how they feel about the current state of your team.

Trade him now and you could get a sure thing pick for the 2027 draft, instead of waiting another year and hoping the NFL looks favorably upon you in 2028.

He clearly wants to get paid. If that's not obvious, I don't know what else I can do.
This is the closest to the stunning big FA signing of Gilmore who was considered “meh” in Buffalo. That pissed Butler off. Boutelle immediately asked for a trade. Do you think they should’ve given that money towards Boutte?

He was causing problems during the offseason and prevented any possible trade to the Saints. After that, I don’t recall Butler being a distraction once the season began.

Collins was accused of going rogue during that 2016 season.

Doubs is better than Boutte, no offense to him.

No, the Saints offered a second round pick for Butler and Bill wanted the second of their two first round picks. They even had framework of a new contract worked out with Butler.

I called this a mistake at the time, yet get called a BB honk by his haters regularly. Odd…

Right… because he wanted a new contract.

That assumes a trade partner willing to give you something more than effectively nothing.

We can’t rely on another team offering enough to be worth more than having Boutte, even disgruntled Boutte, on the roster for this season.

We just got a sure thing pick from Miami for Wallace. Would you really trade Boutte for that deal?

You guys are overrating Boutte and underestimating the guys behind him.

A middle to late round pick is fair, the team that trades for him still has to pay him.

Maybe just maybe you’re overestimating the guys behind him

Gilmore over Butler was a great move by Belichick. Butler was a decent CB but he couldn't cover big receivers, which led to the Super Bowl incident, and it was hilarious seeing Boston sports media losing their minds over Belichick paying Gilmore o er Butler.

Come on Wozzy.
Check any of my posts, I am a huge fan of KW's and have said many many times he's a big piece moving forward.
I'm referring to Chism and DeG, another point I've made repeatedly.

By keeping Boutte you’re taking snaps from Williams and taking a lot of speed off the field.

I like the one/two of AJ Brown and Doubs, but neither is fast… and neither is Boutte.

I find it mildly amusing that in a 6-word post accusing someone else of being ignorant, … you mis-spell 33% of your words.
LOL
Youre the same dumbaxx who told me Boutte could not get an extension on a rookie contract.

Too ignorant applies.

There you go again, mis-stating someone else so you can claim they are wrong.
You know what they say about pointing fingers, one at the other & 3 pointing back at you. The 3x factor holds true in your case with every accusation you make.

For the record: …..I Never said he COULDN’T. You can’t extend in first 2 years of a rookie contract, I BELIEVE. After that it is legal / theoretically possible.

I stated that the TEAM is NOT MOTIVATED to extend him (as a rookie contracted player) until they see at least another half-season to judge his glide path. Even That may not be enough & they could wait til 27; either make offer OR pull a BB and say go get offers, we’ll match if it can work.
And he is NOT MOTIVATED to hold out, because he has NOT YET been good enough. He gets more by playing well than fighting contractually.

Dumby.

You just dig a dumber deeper hole with every post.
