Guregian: Boutte Requested a Trade Back in April

It’s really a moot point because Boutte has made noise in camp while the media is speculating Kyle Williams as the “7th WR” as of today. That’s not what we want to hear. Media isn’t high on Doubs either.
Speculating about non padded practice days ago doesn’t mean anything. Media reported Boutte was on the trade block a month back… are we selectively choosing when to believe the media now?
The only way the Patriots would even consider trading him is if a team right now offered them a 3rd round pick at worst.
Hahaha….

How many 500 yard WR’s needing a new contract have been traded for a 3rd round pick? Good grief….

We don’t need to take the media’s word for it, they’ve been showing it. We are a week in and where is Williams?

You’re not understanding what I said. It would take something drastic like that for the Pats to even consider it. Trading him for a reported 5th round pick would be pointless for a few reasons.

Making plays. Not sure what that even means. The Pats aren’t carrying 9 WR’s into the regular season.

No it wouldn’t be pointless if that’s the best offer, the Pats have no intention of paying him and the young kids look good.

Good to know now; tell Boutte he ain't going anywhere this year.

He ranked #1 in WR snaps in 2024 and #2 in WR snaps in 2025… he had 500+ yards both seasons.

The delusion that with more opportunities Boutte would somehow develop into AJ Brown is some real homer koolade.
You said 3 years.

Boutte is 24 years old and has played less than 1500 snaps. Saying his production will never get better than his 1st 1500 snaps is dumb.

Before being injured he put up 431 yards in 8 games. That equates to 916 over 17 games.
But no a 23 year old who has half a season production depleted by injury would never get better.

You said 3 years.
I was off by one. Doesn’t change his inability to reach 600 yards receiving despite leading the team in WR snaps for the last two years.

You have no answer for that… it’s Drake’s fault apparently.

Is he going to get taller, faster or more explosive?

What about last two seasons, don’t tell me about hypothetical scenarios?!

“Off by one” out of 3 means wrong, and dismissed your point.

He was on a 900+ pace 8 games in last year before getting injured.

If you can’t see his skillset then you don’t understand what you are looking at. Players improve with experience.

That is the first half of last season before being derailed by injury.
The year before he put up almost 600 yards after barely being on the field for 4 games. 576 in 13 games equates to 753 for a season, on a team that only threw for 3300 yards.

Over 21 games from becoming a starter to when he was injured he put up 64/1007/8
That is 52/815/6.5 in a 17 game season.
No a player can never improve on his first 20 games.

You reduce your argument to deceptive math. You should listen so you can learn the game.

By the way, the improvement is already evident.
He went from a guy who couldn’t get in the field his first season and 1/4 to a guy producing at 750 receiving yard clip is the last 3/4 of year 2, to a 20% improvement to a 900 yard clip in the first half of year 3 before getting injured.
Word out of camp is that he is continuing to improve. Health and a bit more improvement and he is putting up 1000 yard wr numbers.

My point was opportunity, being first in snaps for two seasons straight proves my point.

If Boutte stayed healthy for 17 games projecting his averages out he would have posted 669 yards receiving in 2025 and 667 yards in 2024. PFR actually does the math for you.

But in your homer mind he would have reached 1000 yards… your math is worse than your opinions.

Wrong. You are counting the games after the was injured where his production was severely reduced.
We are talking about the potential to improve.
Over a 21 games healthy stretch he did exactly what I said.
You are using stats while recovering from an injury to say what he would do if not injured.

2024 should be 8-20 not 6-20 you are including games he barely played big if course you are.

So you dismiss. Being wrong by being wrong again? He wasn’t first in snaps 2 years in a row.

When he was first in snaps for the first half of last year he produced at a 916 receiving yard 6.5 TD rate.

I think the best way to evaluate Boutte's value is to separate what he IS from what he ISN'T.

I think Boutte IS a fine NFL WR and has overplayed his draft position. He has great, strong hands. He can make the contested catch. He wins the majority of his contested catches which most of his catches are. And he runs precise routes and can be "schemed" open. What he ISN'T is that he doesn't get consistent separation on the field. He doesn't physically overwhelm or out size most CB's, and he can't out quick or out speed his defenders.

In the end he would be a solid WR in any team's WR room. But remember WR is the NFL's most prolific position. Every year there are more quality WR's coming out of college including several who aren't even drafted. Boutte is one of them, but it's not like he can't be replaced. Christ, we have an UDFA WR who is earning 2nd team snaps who wasn't even our most hyped UDFA WR. (BTW- what IS going on with Dixon so far)

So, count me to be with the fans who WANT Boutte to be on the 2026 team. He is too valuable a depth piece to be let go for draft scraps and no one is going to give up a 3rd or 4th round pick, especially in next year's draft. Granted the kid is in a tough position. Hard to have a breakout year when you have to have an injury to get snaps and targets. But this going to be a season where we will be running the ball a bit more and 2 TE's and FB formations will get more calls, so all the WR's will lose a few targets per game likely. Boutte will likely get 5 or 6 starts next season.

49ers just lost Ricky Pearsall for the year. Pats should make a call to see if they would come up with a 3rd rounder for Boutte as a replacement since current expectations have them believing they are SB bound this year. No 3rd rounder then wish them luck and guve then Ja’Lynn Polk’s number!

His career is over. They are coping with the signing of Samuel right now.

Wrong, he was healthy enough to play... and even if you only include games where he played almost the entire game (injured?) he still doesn’t approach much more than 700 yards.

You said 1000 yards…. not even close.

Laughable you need to add a bunch of invisible qualifiers though, like one week Boutte ate a bad taco so his tummy hurt.

I did not say 1000 yards. I said when he got to play in 2024 he produced at 750 yard pace, and before he was injured he was producing at a just over 900 yard pace.
Over that 21 consecutive game stretch he produced over 1000 yards which is a full season equivalent of over 800.
Can you read?

If you need to include games he was out or playing hurt to make your argument you should know your argument stinks.

The funniest part about this... "include his most productive games, exclude the ones Ring 6 wants us too" is not the scientific method.

If he was healthy enough to play most of the game, it was included.

I never included games he was out. I only included games he played most of the game. He still never becomes more than a 600-700 yard receiver. Good, but not a world beater.

Doubs was signed 3/12/26 and approximately 2 weeks later Boutte asked to be traded. He just witnessed his money wind up in Doubs bank account. AJ Brown did not factor in at all to me. Boutte got along just fine with Diggs so why would he object to the signing another # 1 WR who would make his life easier?

Besides, AJ Brown wasn't signed until 6/1/26 and Boutte already wanted out of NE.

Nope, me thinks that the Pats are very leery of Boutte long term.

That isn’t saying he produced 1000 yards. It’s saying when healthy and playing full time he would only need modest improvement to hit that number.

I am including 21 straight games when he was healthy.

You called him a 500 yard receiver.
When he has been healthy and on the field he has produced at a 750 level on the disaster 2024 and over 900 before getting injured last year.
