PATRIOTS TRAINING CAMP 2026 Patriots Training Camp Day 4

I tend to doubt it, but it could happen. I still think there is still a chance Boutte is traded. I still think it is decent enough of a chance.

My guess is even if Boutte stays, either AJ Brown or another true #1 WR (either drafted, signed in free agency, or traded for) will be on this team in 2028. I don't think Boutte is a #1 WR.
Now we see... with the Pads on we see Gonzo locked down Boutte.. Boutte isn't a number 1... good wr and has a nice connection with Drake.. he's a asset to the offense but within his role though.

Can you show me that? I think you are back to the point I was making, it’s all unfounded media speculation. But if you can show me where he said that I’d have a different opinion

Hahahaha your evidence is he posted eyes on social media.
I think we are done here thanks for the laugh.

Ian just posted a thread that backs this up.

Thanks for being a stubborn inside the box thinking poster.

Always good for a laugh.

True or not claiming that posting eyes on social med is a means whatever you want to make up that it means is moronic.

Not to mention I could care less if Boutte wants to be traded, the team isn’t trading him.
Plus you say “it’s media speculation” is refuted by……. Media speculation

Not sure anyone thinks Boutte is a WR1. I’m not sure anyone can be positive he can’t grow into one.
I’m not sure why any of that matters because he is going to be very valuable to this team as an excellent deep threat who takes the top off the defense and has a lot value even if he is only catching 3 passes a game.

It’s amazing to me that people ignore how a defense has to react to the ability Maye and Boutte have to connect on deep throws. Ironically it’s mostly the same people who always said we needed a deep threat to do exactly what Boutte does.

I love that you double down on this. Pure entertainment.

1) Team acquires two high priced receivers on long term contracts in Boutte's contract year.
2) Media speculation from multiple sources.
3) Boutte doesn't report in June.
4) Followed by cryptic message.

Patterns are difficult to put together for some.

Patterns are difficult to put together for some.
1) Team lost its top receiver, uses 3 in its base and isn’t adding 2 in order to get rid of its second best
2) Media speculation is right about 1% of the time
3) Many players don’t.
4) “Eyes” means nothing , unless you circumnavigate a conspiracy theory to create an argument that something with no defined meaning has the meaning you want it to. In other words, moronic.

I don’t think you understand what a pattern is.

I believe this says it all. We all knew or suspected he wanted out. For me going back to last season I was consistent that Boutte was a good player when posters casted him off last training camp. He's a solid player and I'd bet any day now we could hear about him possibly being moved. Personally I'd rather see him here.. but it's clearly him that wants out.

I don’t care that he wants to be traded. You don’t weaken your team because a guy would rather get more opportunity on a bad team.

And yet Lomu has taken snaps at both tackle positions plus some at guard as well as jumbo TE. Hard to say what’s a general coaching philosophy and what is specific to an individual player’s needs and abilities.
I've not seen any mention of Lomu taking snaps at LT or Guard.

It's not showing up in tweet-by-tweet camp snapshots, but I've seen reports like this:

"Try to get him some jumbo tight end work, and he will play some tackle, he will play some guard," coach Mike Vrabel said of the versatile rookie.
...
“He’s been like a sponge taking up whatever position he has been playing,” Onwenu said. “Whether it’s getting reps at guard or getting reps at either tackle, I think he’s done a good job of that.”

Caleb Lomu is learning more than just right tackle at his first training camp

He's not going anywhere unless he throws a fit and refuses to practice (which he hasn't). He's doing what I hoped he'd do by showing up and making plays:

"Thus far, it’s mission accomplished. His chemistry with Drake Maye has been on full display since the start of camp. He is clearly Maye’s favorite long-ball receiver. He constantly delivers when Maye airs it out."

I use the Emmanuel Sanders example of a player that didn't ask for a trade despite playing behind Mike Wallace, late veteran Hines Ward and the sudden emergence of Antonio Brown during his time with the Steelers. Boutte hasn't had anyone stand in his way playing on the outside until now. Doubs has been the most targeted WR for the Packers in the last 3 years and has put up pretty mediocre numbers. Boutte shouldn't be scared of him or Hollins who's absolutely not a lock. Asking for a trade doesn't make sense for him or else it shows he's not confident he can beat these other players out.

There is a realm of possibility Boutte plays out his contract with the Patriots. It just involves a bunch of injuries elsewhere, and/or the team cutting young promising WR prospects. Which doesn't make sense, unless you know they're going to pay Boutte.

So are they going to pay Boutte or lose him next offseason and get nothing in return?

just to be clear, it has been "reported" Boutte wants out.
yet Boutte himself has specifically said he wants to stay. on the record. recently.

also, first and foremost, Boutte wants to get a 2nd contract, and understands he is playing for that contract
he might believe he has a better opportunity to realize that contract elsewhere.
if the Pats were to extend him, I believe he would be very happy, and very productive

Rain you know I feel you brother! As you you know I'm a big KB fan and was on this back when posters didn't think much of him if you remember.. I never got to High/low during camp because for 1. You can't touch the QB so edge Rushers are at a huge disadvantage. 2. Guys aren't really tackling to the ground like that.

The joint practice this season Eagles and Colts will really tell us alot more. Again we all want KB to be here it's clear his connection with Drake. However does he want to be? He did request a trade!

Yes, probably one of those.

I’m presently guessing the second is most likely.

RFK threw Gonzo under the bus with the comment about how big a contract they offered. Now Gonzo can be perceived as unreasonable by the public. Its a nasty tactic.
Those that know RK is nasty won't buy it. Regarding these "Negotiations", I'm actually on Gonzo's side. He's kept it classy and professional thus far.

Pats better not bungle this Boutte situation. There's only been 3 WR's the Pats drafted and developed this entire century that have panned out (Branch, JE, Meyers). And 2 of the 3 they let walk in FA. Don't wait for a bidding war after someone gets hurt, someone busts, and then it comes the offseason and we're stuck having to overpay for our own lowround gem to stay.

(KW is on the path to bust, and Doubs may be a no-show this year)
I disagree regarding Doubs, but I agree that Boutte should be retained.

I don’t agree. There is a reason he’s been VERY limited in recent practices. And I don’t think they see a future with Pop on the team either…he is a rockstar without pads
I'm in the "Pop" hasn't done much to still be on this team, especially when Boutte, who's still young and has upside, has been getting it done. Boutte was wasted by BB his rookie year, had the Mayo nightmare in his 2nd year, and showed real promise of serious upside in his 3rd. He's only 24 going into his 4th year and may have his best football ahead of him.

I still think he’ll be traded, but could be wrong.
I don’t think they’ll be offered good enough value.

We should be prepared for great disappointment about the compensation if he is traded.
