The Coaching Staff

2 years perhaps.
but a good HC hire comes with "who are you bringing".
we saw first hand with Mayo, if the answer is "no one"...it will be a bad hire.
my assumption is that someone like Kuhr, today, is connected with a couple of the Pats defensive staff who feel they need a change/are blocked. in an offensive league, much, much more is needed.

I thought Bill's demise was related to his unwillingness to expand his staff to new ideas. by maintaining a small staff season over season, the pipeline was thin. at the end, we saw friends, relatives and sons of friends on staff. thinking back on it, why wasn't Vrabel on staff post Titans?
He did keep a small staff ill give ya that

the next time Bill listens to an owner on how to run his team, will be the first time.
that's paraphrased from Bill as well
Owners should hire wisely, like Bob did with Parcells, Belichick and Vrabel… then they should shut up, sign the checks and get out of the way.

Jonathan tried to be an Owner/GM like Al Davis… it failed terribly.

Tuning yet another thread into BB bashing, eh?

This thread started as an appreciation of the quality of our present coaching staff. Why make it about your desire to bash Bill? Does that really make you feel better than appreciating our present team of coaches?

Your monthly reminder that Bill Belichick was fired in January, 2024. Nearly 2 1/2 years ago.
The Patriots have had 2 head coaches, and even made a Super Bowl since then.

Yet, here we are.

We have a damn good staff and shouldn't have to worry about the core of it going anywhere. Going to assume that Williams is happy with Vrabel and doesn't want to take on the physical stress of more responsibility. No way McD gets another HC opportunity - though I have some gripes about his lack of adjustments down the stretch last season, hopefully he can still learn some new tricks/make some changes at this point in his career. If we have the success we're hoping for the next few seasons, Vrabel and co will still need to start scouting around and making connections in preparation for some of the other guys getting poached.

I maintain among the numerous problems/shortcomings Mayo may have had, his biggest downfall was his inability to construct a competent staff
IIRC, Kraft directed Mayo to keep some of BBs guys because Bob would have had to still pay them if they moved on.

I also wonder how many coaches didnt want to gamble on a HC who had almost zero NFL coaching experience.
