PATRIOTS NEWS OFFICIAL: Patriots Finally Acquire AJ Brown

Breaking New England Patriots Team News
I think the "bad knees" thing might be a bit overblown, he obviously has had some slight knee issues.

If his knees are in as bad shape as people like to claim this trade would be off cause no way he'd pass his physical, it doesn't matter how bad Vrabel wants him they aren't going to sign a guy with destroyed knees.
I'd add bad attitude

Their could be half a dozen reason why “if it doesn’t work”. Setting up the blame for Vrabel in June is a mistake.

Trading for Moss was also a good move…Super Bowl win or not.

We can hold on to Gonzo for 3-4 more years if we want…without a new contract.
Yea but holdouts suck. Id offer gonzo 33 a year and if thats not good enough let's deal. Pats can get at least 2 1s and a good player
They have 2 good corners and 2 good safetys
But I would hope he signs for 33 a year

We don't know how it effects his game except looking at last year's playoffs. Not a good look. I assume Vrabel will manage it like he did Moses last year, every Wedensday off, maybe Thursday too. Skip a few games, hopefully 2 or 3 games at the end of the season to rest the knee. By season's end last year, the knee was shot. Vrabel will have to rest it a lot for the next few years.

A #1 WR like Brown with a cap hit of $7M and $11m over the next two years is not available for a late round draft pick unless there is something wrong. It is that simple. The knee issue is chronic.
He wasn’t available for a late round draft pick.
What was wrong was he wanted out of Philly and away from Hurts. Pretty much happens every year with a top receiver.
I know it makes you feel all warm and fuzzy to be the guy telling everyone the sky is falling and nothing good is ever going to happen again, after all you are the one saying the team that played in last years SB and by all estimates has improved isn’t in a SB window, but maybe yell at the paper boy or send your soup back instead because no one here is buying what you are so desperate to sell.

Go to ChatGPT and type in "Does AJ Brown have knee drainage issues".
You’re using ChatGPT as a source?!?!
Ask ChatGPT if it is an accurate source of news information? It should tell you it frequently makes mistakes and should not be quoted as a source.

Why would you pay him 33 but kick him out the door for 34? What are you spending that million on that will make us better than Gonzalez will?

1st rounders are the lifeblood of any team.

Without them, you're going nowhere.

If you're going to trade them, there are only 2 reasons for doing so. One, to grab a 24 year old player like AJ Brown (what the Eagles did) or because you are so stocked up at all positions that you can afford to let go of your future to insure a Super Bowl run.

I find it really odd and telling that the Patriots/Belichick were heavily criticized for horrible drafting during the 2014-2019 era when they traded away multiple picks, lost picks due to scandal, blew picks, and yet, during the entire period, they were in the Super Bowl or else in contention (2015).

So, they sold the future to win now, and they won.

But the talent depletion was real.
Hasn't been a problem for the Rams. Since 2017 they have taken 2 1st rd draft picks, have been to 2 superbowls, won 1, and nearly won the NFC championship game this past year.

Since 2017 the Jets have drafted 15 first rd picks including 5 top 5 picks in the draft.

So no, 1st rd picks are not the life blood of making a great team.

Good to great QB, HC, and GM are the life blood of a strong franchise. And we have all 3 for the foreseeable future

I have always been in the camp of not giving up a 1st. But liked the player. But what the f*#k do I know.
We now have AJ and it will be fun to have a bonafide WR1 for a change. This should help Drake in many ways.
He has a WR1 to make thinks easier and having that type of threat on the field draw’s double coverage which opens up so much more. I am glad we did not give up a 2027 1st. I see it as a bit of an over reach but time will tell. If this team explodes next year on Offense then draft picks will be the furthest from my mind.

Well the richest corner right now is 31 a year.
Im offering 2 mil more every year than the richest contract in the whole league. Its principles. That could be a continuing problem. Players want be here wanna win or wanna scrape every dollar they can

Impeccably said.

And to clarify yes pats could have crazy injuries or get scrood by the refs or something crazy happens that cost them a ring I get that. Im conceding the trade could end up being a good trade if something out of the ordinary occurs. But most likely 90 plus percent pats need a ring. Its destiny.
Aj cried when bill didnt take him vrabel got pissed when aj got traded now there both in NE. Put your backs against the wall and start swinging and lets go get a fn Lombardi

They always will. What you negotiate with Gonzalez doesn’t affect future deals. Not sure I think he should be the highest paid corner in the nfl but if I did I wouldn’t lose him over an amount that would never be noticed.

Agree to disagree. Don't know what else to say. Its a business but still a team sport. 2 way street players have to meet you in the middle if you wanna win. If I tell a player hey im gonna give you 2 more mil per year than any other player at your position and they come back and say not good enough. Its trade time.

I like Gonzo, want him a Pat for a long time.
But there isn't a NFL fan, media member or analyst outside of Boston that thinks he's better than Surtain.
He isn't worth $2 mill more than the highest paid at the position, and if he thinks he is that is a big problem.

Mcduffie is the highest paid
But I agree I think surtain and gonzo are the
top 2. Surtain has the technique and experience but i actually think gonzo can be better. Hes a better athlete. Timing of contracts and all

Agreed, Gonzo hasn't reached his full potential yet.
Timing of contracts is always a factor, whoever signs the most recent, is usually the highest paid (of players considered the same caliber).
True lockdown CBs are hard to find, but Gonzo and his agent need to be reasonable.
Make him the highest paid, that's fine.
But if he thinks he's going to blow the roof off the market like Linderbaum did at the OC position, then this will get messy.
