It's easy, and only takes a few moments. An important point: we haven't really heard anything about why they haven't reached a new deal. It's also worth noting that the longer it takes, (A) the more it will cost, but (B) they are working on new media deals which will likely increase the salary cap significantly.I am still in the camp that the Pats don't need to get a long deal done this year. They can wait until after next season. The price increase on his contract won't be that much more.
Not a surprising development.

The Pats have to decide whether they are a zone team like they were in the regular season or a man team like they were in the playoffs. I would consider trading Gonzo if the right offer comes if the Pats choose the former.
It really doesn't work that way. If the patriots want him to play a show-me season before wanting to extend him, then he will bet on himself and wait to see what he is worth in free agency. The Pats should wait and see how he does this season. If he lights at early in the season, that's when I'd lock him up.
It is certainly permissible.Franchise him in 2028 as well if that's an option.
Like sands through the hourglass, and the murder of 2 thugs by an NFL player in a bloody white suit so are the days of our lives.#asexpected
Picking up the option was as inevitable as the tides. Seriously, is anyone surprised?
If he is asking for $40 million + what might be his value if traded??Gonzo is extremely talented, but honestly If he's asking for 40 million a year plus, someone else can have him. It wouldn't surprise me if he holds out of OTAs and camp.
