DRAFT Welcome To New England Notre Dame TE Eli Raridon (3rd round, #95)

I am watching the draft on the NFL network.

Why do they keep advertising anti-depression medications?
It's think it's actually great marketing. They have caught onto how depressed fans get after the team makes their selections.
Generally you are correct, but in 2000 we drafted a QB in the 6th round and we already had three QBs likely to be on the roster.

I felt at the time it was a wasted pick, but we ended up keeping four QBs that year.

That was such a once-in-a-lifetime event though.
Because they had 3 QB's and Bledsoe was getting close to an extension, I thought for sure Brady wasn't going to make the team in 2000. I was very rare to even keep 3 QB's.

You replied to me… scroll back.

Secondly you responded to me last night unprovoked with an insult.

So go take a flying fck and stop ruining threads.

Insult? Na just reality calling you back from your strange fantasy world. You were so far gone, you had no idea who you were responding to. lol.

Look, the Pats just double dipped at tackle taking Crownover. Don’t they know that’s against the rules?!

Don’t they know with Campbell, Moses, Bryant, Lomu, Hudson and Metz they’re just wasting a draft pick?

Feel stupid yet?

No moron, did you know that tackle on this team was a huge problem? We went into the draft with Campbell coming off an knee injury and 35 year old Morgan Moses. Beyond them we have James Hudson III, Lorenz Metz, and Marcus Bryant. We let Vederian Lowe walk. We needed an immediate backup for Campbell and Moses. That is Lomu. We now have to add depth to the tackle postition. This is roster building. You determine needs and then make them as deep as you can.

You are like some kindergartner who has no ability to reason or pull your head out of your butt. There is no problem double dipping at the positions of need. Tackle is urgent. You seriously cannot get that we are set at TE/FB and needed tackles. Like what is seriously wrong with you? Here is what will happen now. We will not take an TE in the rest of this draft. It won't happen. And you are going to somehow come back on here and claim you were right all along. This is what you do. So I am going to laugh when this draft closes and I keep tagging you that we did not pick another TE. And you won't reply. It will actually be pretty funny.

No double dipping… it’s not allowed.

It’s not like they double dipped at tackle two years in a row.

Oh wow, would you look at that. There was no other TE taken just like I told you. Hahahahahaha.
But they doubled up at offensive tackle for the second year in a row... odd.

When they came back from the round and a half exile there were no TE's left worth taking, not in relation to desperate needs.

Hey Wozzy, we didn't pick 2 TE. You were wrong yet again.

9 tight ends were selected in the 2026 NFL Draft, all within the first three rounds. This matches the record set in the 2023 draft for the most TEs taken through three rounds since the draft went to seven rounds.

22 overall were selected. The 2026 draft set a new record for most TEs selected in a 7-round draft, surpassing the previous mark of 16.

Eli Raridon has nearly ideal size and length to play TE at the NFL level.

6'6 with long 32 3/4" arms and big 10 3/4" oven mitts for hands.

He's also a really good athlete with 4.62 40 which is quite good speed for his size to go along with a 9.46 RAS.

I'm looking forward to see how he can grow and contribute to the Patriots offense.

The main thing he needs to do is gain about 10-12 lbs to get a bit more sand in his pants to be a stronger blocker.

I trust McDaniels can find ways to use him if Raridon shows he can be a chess piece for this offense.

Oh and just so you know, we only picked one. Just one. Not two like you pushed. Just one. We picked one. Why? Because the roster is full for that position pertaining to draft picks. Just like I said. We picked one. Did you know that? Just one.

I didn't make you a promise clown shoes, I said they might.

They just brought another one in as an UDFA... which is impossible. Don't they know the rules about double dipping?

Obviously not with the two offensive tackles drafted for the second year in a row.

I mean those tears were so long ago.

It’s something to note. But if he’s showing no signs of problems with it, I’m not concerned.
I am.

2 consecutive ACLs and now your heading to the NFL?

Crazy thing about Gronk, was he looked faster than 4.68, and was a beast on those seam passes. Also, he played with such strength, rarely did you see him go down from an arm tackle, he would bust right through those.

If Raridon can add 10 pounds of muscle, it’ll help him in the physical part of being an all around TE.

Not all picks work out, but the potential and talent Raridon has makes him such a fantastic pick. The Pats have needed a future pass catching TE since Gronk retired in 2019. And the Pats basically ignored A TON of good TE classes since then.
I went to TC in 2011 the day after they traded for Ochocinco. Can confirm, Gronk looked bigger than anyone else who was 6'6 and ran like a gazelle. Knew we had one that day.

That was the thing about Gronk- you could see, even from nosebleed seats, that he just physically looked a lot different. I remember seeing Eric Weddle, a two time first team all pro, have a running start kill shot on Gronk on a crosser in the end zone, and he just bounced off like a small child. It was one one the most shocking things I have seen in person in sports.

I am.

2 consecutive ACLs,

It's OK to use that fact in your argument, T, but do NOT forget to add that he has been successfully playing on that knee for the past FOUR years. So even you will have to agree that a LOT of that fear has since waned a bit.
