An annulment only invalidates a marriage if it wasn't a legitimate one. You can't just cheat on your spouse and get an annulment. As far as the legal vs Church point you can be legally divorced (not like you can hold the other hostage) but the covenant between man and wife in the Church is only broken by death. If there are priests or bishops granting annulments because they're getting paid enough: 1, that is scandalous and you should report it to the Diocese and 2, it doesn't change the covenant man and wife have--God is not so easily fooled

I appreciate you adding to this, and I take no offense. I only mention this to say that if Vrabel and his family are devout Catholics this isn't just a "Oh well we get divorced and find someone else" situation, he legitimately cannot be in a relationship with another woman for the rest of his life (until, you know, his wife dies).

I genuinely think people are losing their minds trying to make sense of the world right now. Everything lately devolves into a discussion of morality/politics, and, while it's annoying and often rife with insecurity, I can't say I'm surprised.

The concept of those things has been blown wide open with it feeling like there's little reprive.
