I suspect that we all have our favorite TE or S if he is available in the 3rd or from a tradeup from our 3rd round pick.

I thought that I'd ask for our priorities for our 3rd pick. I would think that
1) whether we drafted an OT at 31 doesn't matter much given the OT's likely available in the 3rd,
2) we have already drafted at least one EDGE player.
===============================
What is the sweet spot with our 3rd round pick, whether we need to trade up a bit or down a bit?
===============================
I am posting this because of another discussion pointing out that our only NT type is Gregory. All the rest competing for this role are about 305.

To me, Delp at TE 3rd or later. Few others I like also.

WR-I’d like the Pats to adopt a Celtics approach. What I mean by that is find a TRAIT or two that you find valuable in a specific role and get a guy who can do that thing well. It’s really hard to find a stud who can do everything.

DT-agreed…I want one huge space eater. I think we have enough guys who can rush from inside.

RB-sneaky need IMO. You can’t have only two guys who are NFL competent and this isn’t a spectacular draft for RB’s. Like to see a heavier guy with good feet.

-OT/DE I think you gotta strike early of you want one who will play.

-LB …rds 4-5 there should be some projects worth trying. Red Murdoch is no freak athlete but that many forced fumbles isn’t an accident. Kid has a skill.

CB-later round flyers for traitsy guys are fine in this scheme.

S-I was dead wrong about woodson so I trust the team to identify a S in later rounds to groom.

P-this might be one of the more meaningful upgrades they could make as Barringer was all over the place. Syracuse kid and my Aussie guy from GA Thorson are nice.

G-still think a later round dev player would be useful

I agree, given that the incumbent 2nd IOL backup is Wallace. Even if we like Wallace for the role, there should be competition.

I would think that we should at least consider getting a short-yardage back in the 4th or later.

I think IOL is a bigger need than people realize, AVT's injury history, and Onwenu is a UFA next year, need to get some talent in the pipeline at the position.

OL and EDGE, then trade a few pics to get the TE we want. I like Delp and Roush. I think adding Roush to Hill in the running came could make some massive holes. I like De'Zhaun Stribling, and he looks like a 4th rounder. Trade up into late 3 if they really like him.

R1: Edge
R2: OT (right)
R3: LB
R4: TE
R4: Bpa - DB or DT
R5: What ever got passed over on the second 4 (or traded away- i'd take a future 3rd, no questions asked)
R6: (x4) would like to see some of these go away, used a chips to move up

what OT's do you think we should choose (reach?) from at 63?

absolutely no frakkin' clue who we should grab my man... have not done a lick of work leading up to this draft, including reading the typically very well informed position posts in our draft forums... kinda took some time off from football after the beat down we took in february...

but thats the order of importance for me... ymmv

1) We NEED a top EDGE player (1st or 2nd pick)
2) We are likely to pick an OT with our first pick if Vrabel can secure one of the top ones.
==================================
Isn't the rest of the draft based on Vrabel's BPA list?

After all, arguments can be made for the need for help or future help at every position.

If Henry or Spillane get hurt then we are relying on Hill and nobody…and that’s taking into account rotational depth. BPA for TE and LB for rounds 3-4.

If OT is pick 31 what about Campbell? I see the FB signing to prop Campbell up this season.

Moses didnt play so terrible last season. Shouldn't 31 be a player who contributes in 2026?

Why wouldn't the new swing tackle contribute in 2026...along with backing up RT? Do you know something we don't?

Taking a Tackle at 31 has nothing to do with Campbell... the pick would be to get a starting caliber player... he either srarts or us groomed as MMs replacement... Moses was fine last year, but he's going to be 35 this season... getting his replacement up to speed now is good planning...

I say you follow your board. If 2 players at different positions are graded closely then you draft position of need. Otherwise BPA. Reaching for position of need is not sound drafting

Why wouldn't a RT at 31 contribute in 2025? Moses is 35 years old. He missed 3 games in 2023 and 3 in 2024. Sure, he had a great 2025, but time is not on his side. He is such a great guy to be a mentor, and his disciple can lock down the right side for the next 10 years. RT is a premium position. Only fantasy football and Madden nerds can't understand its significance.
