Patriots Rumor A.J. Brown trade rumors heat up - Should Patriots get him?

A report indicating the Patriots are potentially in the market for this player, or have expressed or plant to express interest.
That scenario would remind me of 2007 when the Pats signed Welker, Stallworth in FA and then drafted Chad Jackson with a trade up in the second.
Ummm . . . they traded up for Jackson in 2006. They traded their 2007 second for Welker, which, despite the fact he never won a SB, might have been the best trade Belichick ever made.

Trading up for Gronk might be a better trade, and 4th for Randy Moss says “Hi!”

Either way Jackson was still apart of the WR room as was Jabbar Gaffney.

Just because they have Boutte, Pops, and Williams, doesnt mean they are confident in them going forward.

At that point it would seem that the WR was complete but then the trade for Moss happened. Then the greatest team ever happened.

No I'm not saying AJ Brown is anything like Moss or that we would have a similar season. Just pointing out that I dont think it would mean getting AJ Brown is impossible.
Chad Jackson was drafted in 2006..

Interesting on pop.. Vrabel said yesterday that he wants to try and find more ways to get pop the ball more..

Belichick traded a 3rd rounder in 2009 for a 7th rounder and 2010 2nd. That turned into Julian Edleman and Gronk. (With a small trade up)

I think that might be the winner.

Does anyone from watching Brown over the past couple seasons feel like he’s a guy who could get disgruntled if he doesn’t get the ball enough and quit on the team… Or that he just hasn’t looked that motivated to be out their playing anymore. Maybe a change of venue will be good for him, of course… But I don’t know. I just feel like there are a lot of red flags on this guy….. and now there’s news out that he may have some knee injuries. He’s been dealing with… We shall see

The Randy Moss trade was Belichick's best trade. He traded a 4th Oakland for the GOAT WR, and then got the Vikings to give him a 3rd when he was toast. So for the price of moving up one round he got Randy Moss.

I think they know Boutte is going to be tough to sign, but I still don't want them giving up a 1st for Brown.

Kinda of Brown related.

This is the core issue there and why I don’t really worry about Brown being a “diva” like many others do. In reality, Hurts is the diva and Brown is tired of it as I am sure many other teammates are. I would guess if Brown himself was a true “diva” he would be much more vocal in public about this.

Perhaps the Marvin Harrison JR rumors are true?

If Im forking over a 1st and more for a WR, I want him to be young and not a cancer.

AJB will be 29
MHJ will be 24

This move is a long term fix and to me and AJB carries higher risk not only because of age, but also past behavior. MHJ has been on a terrible team and franchise and had a QB who is a Bust. MHJ is also still on his rookie contract too entering year 3.

There is no MHJ rumor. It was one article naming trade candidates for each team and another article citing that to say that if Harrison is a trade candidate, then the Pats could consider him. No reporting in either article, just educated guesses.

Certainly enough red flags, including age where Brown could start declining, to preclude me from being OK trading a 1st for him. I don’t even want to give up a 2nd in 2027.

MAYBE in 2028.

Its the knee specifically. Hes had a problem his whole career with it and it got it drained last year.

The Experts on here thinks MHJ sucks like we have better than him on our Team.

He has sucked so far, not sure why we think he will suddenly be a #1 wr?
I'm going by his pedigree and $hitty QB play: Arizona is not a model organization. MHJ looked decent with Brissett who is nothing close to special.

Playing for Arizona can make anyone look like ***. Larry Fitzgerald was the exception. I’d be willing to see if he could reach his potential in a Pats uni if the price is right.

MHJ had a good Rookie year with a less than stellar QB.
