DDS is very similar in measurements, but bettered Young in athletic testing, and significantly exceeded him in sacks over their final 2 college seasons.
Much rather DDS in the 2nd over Young in the 1st.

That 10 yard split may have knocked him off my first round board. I do love Young's attitude.

After Akheem Mesidor, I feel like the best options are DDS, Gabe Jacas, and Malachi Lawrence, probably in that order.

- DDS has the size, length, motor, physicality and physical tools to do it all. I think he's the complete package.
- Jacas the most physical, very versatile. Not quite as much length or explosiveness as DDS.
- Lawrence the most explosive, has good length, but not sure he is as physical. Run support a liability right now.
- Zion Young and TJ Parker are physical ("violent"), but I feel they lack the explosiveness and bendiness. They are effort guys.

Not as ridiculously long armed as Jones, and DDS has more power, but I see similarities.

I think I would take a Jones/Kearse like player at 63 and sleep very well at night.

That is not "super quick". It would have been second slowest at the combine, slower than LT Overton.

Well to look at the bright spot Dremont Jones, who is productive ran a 5.12 at 281 pounds with a 1.72 10 yd.

Thats fair, If you are looking for a pure pass rusher then Howell or Mason Thomas might be the guy. I have said it several times but Jacas is my guy and I want him to be the pick, but I do not think he will test very well athletically

I don't know, I like Jacas' get off. I think, and am hoping, his 10 yard split is pretty good. I don't know if his 3-cone will be particularly good, if he does one at all, but as long as 10 yd is good to go with his 30 reps, I'd be fine.

The important question is what is your threshold for a good 10 yd? For me anything under 1.66 I consider good

1.61 or lower. I could live with 1.63.

For point of comparison, TJ Parker was a 1.61. Malachi Lawrence was best with 1.58. Dani Dennis-Sutton - 1.63.

A couple of weeks ago, I went through a number of leading pass rushers in the NFL and most were in the 1.62 or better. It wasn't a proper study though.

Interesting correlation. I would be pretty intrigued to see an Edge group of Landry, Jones, Lawrence, Ponder and Swinson. Ponder and Lawrence test out very similarly athletically

I have Lawrence and Jacas graded similarly, just ahead of TJ Parker but behind Mesidor.

I like the combination of the 10-split and 3C, if the 3C is available:

Micah Parsons - 1.59/6.96
Nick Bosa - 1.62/7.10
Joey Bosa - 1.68/6.89
Khalil Mack - 1.53/7.10

DDS - 1.63/6.90
Elijah Ponder - 1.56/6.99

7.10 seems to be a 3C cutoff, with 6.90 or below elite. 1.63 seems to be a 10-split cutoff in most cases.

Myles Garrett 10-split was 1.63, David Bailey 1.62. No 3C time, which is the limitation with this.

Jadeveon Clowney had a 1.59 10-split, but only a 7.27 3C. Kayvon Thibodeaux had a 1.56 10-split, but only a 7.23 3C. Jared Verse had a 1.59 10-split but only a 7.31 3C.

Yeah, I really like this kid. Looks like a big riser right now. But some players still slide when one thinks they are risers. I’ve seen it go both ways. This draft, after the top 10-12 picks, is going to be wild though. That much is true.
