Patriots Rumor Tracker / FA Signings (Updated: Signings in OP - 4/7)

Hypothetical - if the compensation is the same (say a 1st rounder) would you rather have AJ Brown or Brian Thomas

- summary - two years left on rookie deal for about a $2 M average

- summary - around $25 M per year until through 2029

AJ Brown.

On Hawkins, I've seen this floating around X, but Reiss was on Toucher and Hardy this morning, and this is the actual quote:

"I think they're still working at that. I don't know where that stands right now, but I know, as Hawkins has publicly said, he'd love to come back. Not sure why that isn't done yet, but maybe something that unfolds today." - Mike Reiss

The account had a checkmark but I guess that doesnt mean **** these days
Checkmark means they submitted their DL to X as verification of who is running the account.

Well, the use of it would be 1) to do a solid by the player and let him be released earlier with everyone else while free agency money is still there, and 2) often times teams will use that June 1 cap space as their buffer to get the full 53 players, practice squad, and in season moves accounted for.
I forgot about deals where there are bonuses or guaranteed dollars that become due if the player is on the roster on the start of the league year, or 3 days after, etc. So it makes sense in those cases. You get out of that because the player is not technically rostered.

AJ all day. He is brawn and quickness and consistent.
4 straight 1000 yard seasons

That quote was as they were closing out the show:

MR: "I think it's important, John, and I think they're still working at that. I don't know where that stands right now, but I know, as we've heard Hawkins publicly say, he'd love to come back. Not sure why that isn't done yet, but maybe something that unfolds today."

TH: "Oh, wow, the third day of free agency?"

MR: "One way or the other. One way or the other."

TH: "All right. Well, listen, Mike Reiss, follow him on ESPN and find out everything that's going on and get that analysis. Thank you, Mike. It's good talking to you again."

MR: "Always great, guys. Appreciate you. Have a great rest of the show."

This may be an unpopular scenario for some, but it’s honestly the way I see things working out. Soooo, if you ask my wife I’m never right, so this is probably far from what happens:

1) WR additions have been made. They are going to roll with Doubs, Boutte, Hollins, Williams, Chism and Douglas. Unpopular I know, but unless the Eagles price comes down significantly, I don’t see it happening. If they asked for our 1st only I’d do it. Their ask of a 1st and 2nd is an absolute no.

2) Re-sign Gibbens and Hawkins

3) Sign TE Okonkwo

4) Draft Class:

1st: OT (Iheanachor/Miller/Lomu)
2nd: Edge (Jacas/Moore/Denis-Sutton/Josephs)
3rd: Trade up with a 4th and draft DB (Stukes)
4th: DL/NT (T. Keenan/Zx. Harris)
5th: CB (Tacario Davis)

I don't think he's been right regarding the Patriots, ever
Not even recalling what other reports were Patriots related at the moment. But in this cycle he’s already called a few.

Anything he says is no guarantee, but often does have smoke.

Pats are really re-vamping their Special teams. The Additions of Luketa, Gilliam and now Britt.

I don’t hate that plan at all. I want a wr pretty badly but if it aint there it aint there. I think adding avt is going to help alot and if we get the regular season versions of maye, Campbell, and wilson we will have an elite offense even without an alpha wideout.

I would just add lb to your list. If not through the draft could we be interested in milano on a 1 year prove it deal or Wagner as a stop gap? Not much left there unfortunately. Need depth at iol and rb too. I feel like they are planning another move at edge with chiasson/jennings gone now and/or expecting landry at 100% - in that case edge would actually be in good shape with jones/landry/ponder/ hit on that higher pick with at least a good rotational guy. And maybe swinson shows something .
